How long does the pain last?

Hi im post op day 6 & today I tried to not take my pain meds. Everytime I tried to walk I had to hold my stomach in from the pain. It became so bad tonight I took my pain med again. Is this normal? Tomorrow will be a week out & I thought for sure pain wouldnt be an issue.

  • Everyone is different but that does seem like a long time, if the pain is bad. If you can maybe you should try a belly binder, you can get them at Walmart or Walgreens, it will hold your belly in so i

  • The belly binder sounds like a good idea. I would also touch base with the doctor just to make sure things are okay.

  • I'd check with your surgeon.. Everyone's recovery is different, but that doesn't sound normal Better to get it checked out so they can help you, or at least reassure you that it is normal.

Mine lasted a long time, close to a month if I recall correctly. Dr found no issues with it but it just hurt and hurt and hurt... it does get better.

Hi I'm post op day 5 and I. still in pain. my surgery was 4 hrs due to complications. the lady who had hers done on the same day is already back to normal. altho her öp only lasted 1.5 hrs. I guess we all heal differently. But I feel your pain I just want to get back to feeling normal again!!

Pain will go away. My body wanted alot of sleep first couple days I was home from hospital. We all heal at different paces. Just try n get some fluids in and rest. :) Things do start feeling better believe it or not. I didn't think I'd ever feel better. My surgery day was 9/2.
