Protein Shake is Stuck?!?!

So I just had a Protein shake for the first time (i'm 16 days post op) and it feels like it's stuck in my esophagus!! Ugh it's the grossest feeling in the world! I don't know if I drank it too fast (took me about an hour and normal liquids go down faster than that) but I'm really acidy and am scared to burp because it feels like it will come back up.

Anyone else experienced this? How long for the icky feeling to go away?

How many ounces did you have?

Try walking... it might help

I find it odd that a liquid would be stuck... I've never experienced that before. I agree with the above poster, try walking around. My there is a stuck air bubble in your stomach that won't let anything down?

Do you guys recommend the RTD (Ready to drink) Protein shakes like Muscle Milk(32g), EAS Myoplex (42g), Met-Rx Protein Plus (51g), Pure Protein 35 (35g), or Premeir Protein (30g)?

Or should I use Protein powder mixes? I want to make this as easy as possible to stick to so I was thinking about stocking up on the RTDs.

I agree with others, sounds like you drank too fast. Remember is super tiny, small sips at first. Walking may help.

I use a variety of both. I find the ready made ones are convenient for taking places but the powders are a berltter price and I have some variety with flavors and recipes.

Ugh, thank you everyone. It finally went down. I tried walking around and that helped. I'm not sure if it was too fast or too much but next time I will go a lot slower and only have 4oz instead of the 10oz :)

Try Gas-X when it happens again! Works every time with a bit of walking.
