9/21/15 surgery

I'm Michelle and.....I got my date today!! I am on a roller coaster of emotions! I will be sleeved on 9/21/15. I start my 2 week pre op diet on monday 9/7. I would love to have more people who are getting sleeved on that day to join me so we can support each other and share or experiences. I started my journey in 2/15 and have felt like I have been in limbo for the past 7 months and it is now finally coming up on "my turn". I have read these boards, had my ups and downs and now all the effort is paying off!

My surgery was Tuesday and so far so good. Should be discharged today around noon. Jello has been my favorite so far but other than learning to go really slow, no problems keeping it down.

  • Congratulations! I know how exiting this time is.. I just went through it! I had my RNY on August 17th. It's really just a crazy roller coaster of emotions and impatience. Take good care or yourself,

  • Ugh these preop diets! My 2 week diet started yesterday on the 7th and it was a rough day for sure! I did however surprise myself by not cheating. Mine is Optifast and I get 3 shakes a day and 2 soups

That is exactly what I anticipate. Maybe I had better think about laying low!

Now thats inspiring!

Mine is 2 shakes and a 350 calorie meal. Gonna be a long 2 weeks! Hopefully it will get easier after the first week

I am on the same thing and I started today too. Chugging water when the sugar cravings happened seemed to help.

Good tip! I got a some crystal light packets and propel water so I can have something sweet! I'm a day late but oh well.....I was road tripping yesterday to get home from the holiday weekend. @@nnv what day is your surgery? 21st?

I haven't received my date yet, although it appears mines won't come around until October! We don't have to have dates around the same time to keep up with one another! I'm still in the pre-op stage and I have to more dates (medical clearance, and re-evaluation with the surgeon) before I can get my date. I haven't really had the up and down feeling of NOT wanting to do the surgeon because I have other health related issues I have in the reason I want this surgeon. But, be sure to take on this board and keep us informed on how ever your feeling and your process! Wishing you all the best!

Hi all

I started my journey in early January and get the sleeve on Monday Sept. 14th!!! Had food funeral on Saturday and started the pre-op on Sunday, I've had headache ever since but I am encouraged to hear it should subside soon. I'm drinking plenty of Water but the downside is going to the bathroom much more frequently. We can do this!!!!!!

@@Jefferyc79 Absoulutly we all can support each other in this journey! I have found this process to be very emotional and harder than I thought it was when I first started. Now that I am in the pre op diet stage and the surgery will be here before I know it.....IT JUST GOT REAL! My story is that I have 2 of my siblings who have had strokes and family history of heart disease. Besides all of my own co morbities......I can't want to be next! I need to take control of my life. I know I was going to do the surgery since my info session. I have seen the devastation of my family members taking care of the two who had the strokes and how it has totally changed their lives. I will not let this happen to my husband and children if I can help it! So this is my reasons.....We all have one or a thousand......we all came to this conclusion that surgery is what we need to help us live longer and healthier, this is just my story.

@@jacks89 @@chloe99200 How's pre op diet treating you two??? I'm doing good so far.....day is still young though! Keeping my eye on the prize!

hope you are all hanging in there!

Well I have kept to the diet so far and that already is more willpower than I expected to have, haha! But I will say, when I am able to keep myself from thinking about how I haven't "eaten" anything, I'm not really as hungry as I expected to be. My shakes make my stomach a little upset, gassy and bloated (sorry if TMI) which I think also has helped to curb my appetite. My Nut doesn't have strict caffeine rules, so I'm living on coffee between meals, which always helps suppress my appetite. I will switch to decaf for next week -_- How are you guys doing on your diet?

After talking to my insurance company and them trying to reach the hospital which was closed. So I'm a hair on edge and had a scoop of ice cream and spit it out lol could have been worse

Hanging in there...I do feel like I'm so exhausted by about 3:00. And I can't seem to find a protein bar that doesn't taste like cardboard/dirt????

What brands are you guys using for the shakes and/or bars?
