    Pain meds that work?

My pain meds made me sick so I couldn't use them. I didn't find anything that helped my abdominal pains as well as a heating pad did. I know that seems unlikely but I put a heating pad on my big incision and then fall asleep after it gets nice and warm. Then I wake in 4 hours when the safety feature kicks it off lol

    Tomorrows the day!

Good luck everyone!! I am one week post op and still can't believe it! I was a nervous wreck about my surgery and wasn't even 100% certain that I wasn't gonna chicken out at the last minute due to anxiety!! But honestly I wish I could have calmed myself because it really just wasn't that bad. My worst memory is having to drink that disgusting contrast fluid. I will be thinking of everyone and hoping u all have smooth transitions:)

    September Sleevers

Had my surgery on the 21st. Came home today around dinner time. I'm already feeling more normal since getting home. I did end up with a drain because my spleen got accidentally nicked so the drain is for my bleeding spleen. Other than that the gas pains are uncomfortable but the whole process was more tolerable than i was anticipating !

Oh my goodness, what sadism! ???? i wish mine was as early as yours so I could just get up and go, mine got pushed back to 11:45am, oh well! Can't wait for all of us to be through this and then on to stressing over the next stuff LOL

    9/21/15 surgery

I cleaned my house from top to bottom too! I think for me it was a mixture of anxiety and also not wanting to worry about it for the upcoming week! My surgery is in the morning at 1045am and I'm laying in bed unable to sleep because of nerves! Not wanting to back out or anything and I'm very excited and grateful to finally be here but my nerves are a mess! Good luck !

@@chloe99200 Have you tried the powercrunch Protein bars? I hate hate hate almost all Protein Bars, but these ones were actually good. I had Peanut Butter and mint chocolate. I would definitely give them a try if you haven't!

    9/21/15 surgery

Well I have kept to the diet so far and that already is more willpower than I expected to have, haha! But I will say, when I am able to keep myself from thinking about how I haven't "eaten" anything, I'm not really as hungry as I expected to be. My shakes make my stomach a little upset, gassy and bloated (sorry if TMI) which I think also has helped to curb my appetite. My Nut doesn't have strict caffeine rules, so I'm living on coffee between meals, which always helps suppress my appetite. I will switch to decaf for next week How are you guys doing on your diet?

    9/21/15 surgery

Ugh these preop diets! My 2 week diet started yesterday on the 7th and it was a rough day for sure! I did however surprise myself by not cheating. Mine is Optifast and I get 3 shakes a day and 2 soups..blech. Oh well, I'll just keep browsing through the before and after pictures on here and looking at all of the fabulous looking post ops! Now thats inspiring!

    Pre op diet HUNGRY

I Just have to say that for such a simple statement, it sure did resonate loudly with me! And I read it just when I needed to, as I sat here feeling sorry for myself beginning my liquid diet. What a great pick me up, and I'm now trying to think in that frame of mind for today! Thank you for that!

    September Sleevers

My surgery is on 9/21 as well, and boy am I dreading Monday and that liquid diet! I think right now that's my biggest worry, due to my 0% willpower!! I can't wait to have this behind me!
  14. September 21st for me!! Time is flying by and I'm an odd combination of excited that it is flying by and really nervous almost wish it would slow down!(But not really because I can't wait to start this chapter) One of my main reasons for being so nervous is my sister had this done a few years ago and all she did was talk about the terrible pain! But she's a big sissy and always has been! I have to remind myself of that all the time Also my 70 year old grandmother had it done 3ish years ago and she came home the day after and said it was a breeze!
  15. I just got my date today, i'm scheduled for September 21 I have been on a three month supervised diet and lost about 9 pounds. I start my liquid diet 9/7. I'm so excited but I am also so nervous!

    Coffee

Pre-op Newbie here, I just finished my supervised diet and I was told to use that time to cut back on my coffee intake. I love coffee and used to drink about 5-7 cups of it, strong dark and unsweetened. My nutritionist told me that there were a few coffee flavored protein shakes, but since I usually hate the taste of protein shakes and sweet coffee, I figured it would be a no brainer that I wouldn't like this. Well my mom bought me some Click caramel flavor and I have to say it is rather tasty! It has really helped me with the mental struggle of having no coffee in the morning, and it has almost no "proteiny" taste. I recommend anyone who has been told they can't have coffee try this if they're missing their old caffeinated friend!
