Was anyone giving a prescription for blood thinners after being discharged?

Where did you have your surgery

Yea I had to give myself injections in my stomach for a week following surgery.

one "side effect" good or bad

I spoke with my doctor's office today and they only give you and injection before you go home. But you're on Heparin will in the hospital.

Post op. They really don't hurt and I would rather be safe then sorry ...

Not post discharge. I was in the hospital 2 nights and I got heparin shots every 4 hours while I was there. I went home with 22 bruises from the shots and the blood draws.

I already take blood thinners. So my usual way to manage a surgery is to stop pills 4-5 days preop and start tummy injections 2x per day. Continue post op as directed. Not sure how long they will keep me on the shots after.
