No nurse practitioner

Well, here's a fun one folks. My daughter and I decided that we were going to get WLS. We hunted till we found a place where our insurance would be excepted and went to the seminar in February. We began the doctor supervised weight management as soon as we got the letter telling us that the insurance had oked it. I had 3 months, she had 6.

I saw my nurse practitioner in May. She saw hers in June.

We received the paperwork for our labs in the mail to do locally, because we live 2 1/2 hours away. When we went to have the labs done it was discovered that the orders hadn't been signed. In trying to fix things, I found that the nurse practitioner I was to see had left, so I had to see the one that my daughter was seeing.

I made an appointment for the same day she was to have her second visit. Last week we were told that she had gone on vacation and while gone decided to quit.

Now neither of us has a nurse practitioner. We were told to keep the appointments with the psychiatrist, the GI doctor and the cardiologist, get mammogram, colonoscopy, and PAP smear (which my doctor says I don't need because I've had a hysterectomy) then contact the clinic and they would tell the doctor. He would then decide if there was anything else we needed to do or if we were good to go.

This makes me very uncomfortable because I'll have no one to talk to if I have questions.

Should I go ahead, or should I wait till a new nurse practitioner is found.

Everything went great. I'm almost 5 weeks out and I've lost just over 25lbs. It took 3 weeks to feel back to normal. Darnall changed some of the requirements. You no longer need to lose weight bef

I am in the same boat with Scott & White also. Extremely frustrating. I have the option to go on base to Fort Hood but I am pretty much at a stall because they just got doctors who do gastric bypass but they have not started yet.

I didn't know that the option was available on post. They may have their ducks in a row prior to Scott & White

Their gastric bypass surgeon came back in mid July I think.

I wonder how far behind they are a Scott & White? I have done everything, just waiting on the NP. It has gone pretty fast until this point. I started the whole process late June so I can't complain.

I don't know how far behind they are. I too have done everything...just waiting on the NP. It sucks.

So I just came home from the support group and someone mentioned there may not be surgeries done until October or November :/.

I'm not going to lie I sat in my car and cried lol

I'm going to talk to Matilda tomorrow. Hopefully she will say differently.

I wanted to go to that support group meeting in Killeen today but I had a very bad unexpected illness with a family member. I spoke to her Monday and she said that they hired a NP but she won't start until October. So it's most likely true.

Any updates ladies?

I still have not heard anything. I actually switched on post and I'm having my surgery Tuesday the 22nd :)

I hope they fix things soon, waiting is tough. The pre op diet is no joke lol.

Good for you! All will go well. Keep me posted.

Hello there. How have things been?

Everything went great. I'm almost 5 weeks out and I've lost just over 25lbs. It took 3 weeks to feel back to normal.

Darnall changed some of the requirements. You no longer need to lose weight before surgery and you don't have to do the upper GI unless you have acid reflux.

How is it going at Scott & White?

My surgery date is 11.30 All of my pre-op requirements have been done....I was just waiting for them and they have pulled through. This date works best for my family and career (registered nurse). I'm glad you're doing well. I wish you the best.
