I'll be heading to the hospital in about 24 hours! I'm excited and nervous... and a little bit worried. I can't wait to get started on this journey!

Hi there, i remember that combo of nervousness and excitement so well! Congratulations on all -- whole new chapter opening........

Walking it off helped me -- a little further each time, even just across a parking lot and back. This put me in a new space as a walker, even though I was just faking it at the beginning. And it gave me something to step right into after surgery -- as soon as I woke up I grabbed that pole and headed down the hallway and back. Repeated each time I needed to pee. Walk, walk, walk.....and now, today, I look forward to my walk and have to do it.

Me too! August 7th. Very scared and nervous. Overwhelmed too! And not to mention HUNGRY! This preop diet sucks. ;)

Anyone getting banded in August? I have a date of Aug 4. I keep dancing back and forth between excitement and nervousness.

@csm81- I'm so excited for you! My pre op diet isn't as bad as I thought it would be but it's not fun. I'm really thankful for my 2 meals of 3 oz of lean protein and 2 cups of nonstarchy veggies. I am also having 3 protein shakes a day. What is your diet like?

I'm happy for you Coach!

My surgery is scheduled for August 5th. Honestly right now I'm just trying to get through this pre op diet. More excited the nervous.

I'm hoping to find friends to talk to and experience this journey with. I have friends and family that will support me but its a different when you have someone that's going through the same or similar issues.

August 6th is my surgery date. I am the same way, scared and excited all at the same time!!

Yeah, it does help to talk to people who ate going through the same thing.

I had pre op at the hospital today and I will have an appt with the surgeon tomorrow. I am planning on asking if I can use gas x after surgery. Any other questions?

My doctor told me to take milk of magnesia he said it will become my best friend from now on. He said that it will help get rid of the gas and also help with the constipation. Are you having to do a pre-surgery diet? I'm not and it seems everyone else is lol!! I go for me pre-op and nutrition class on Friday.

Yes, I am halfway through the pre op diet. It's not TOO bad, but it isn't fun. I can have 3 protein shakes a day and 2 small meals. The meals are 3 oz of lean protein, 1.5 of leafy salad greens and .5 cup of a nonstarchy vegetable. Plus, SF jello, SF popscicles and all the celery and cucumber I want.

I am only supposed to have 1 (one) small meal, 2 protein shakes, and two snacks of sf jello/sf Popsicles. But I can't stand protein shakes- so I've swapped them out with tuna or extra meat/veggies. So I'm not sticking to it 100% but I'm keeping it very low carb/low fat and it's definitely a lot less than I usually eat. I went for preop yesterday. Surgeon seemed nice. I'm excited, but still feel guilty since I'm financing it and paying out of pocket. My husband is supportive but I can't shake the guilt of my bad choices in life are now becoming an extra bill each month. But I'm a worry rat and will stress out over anything. Lol.

I wouldn't worry about your past mistakes. All you can do is move forward from where you are now! Instead of thinking about paying for your mistakes, think about all the money you will be saving on future healthcare! Thankfully, my insurance covers me, I'm just having to pay the deductible.

What Protein shakes have you tried?
