  • I love salad!! It's a staple in my diet. When I don't know what else to eat I'll find some tuna or chicken with salad.

  • I am 19 days post op gastric bypass and I am CRAVING a salad lol. Good to know I can have one eventually!!

  • @@mtraverse -- good point. Remember-- eat your protein first!! THen, if there is room, have some veggies. But your main focus should be protein. Sometimes, when eating a salad, we focus on the veggies

My surgeon wants me to wait until 3 months out until I incorporate lettuce again. I've found that each surgeon seems to have different stipulations

It;s my favorite way to get my Protein in! I am about 3-1/2 months post op and I have been eating at least 1 salad a day (usually 2) for the past few weeks (3 maybe?). I have not had a single problem with lettuce, yellow cherry tomatoes, or green onions, and my protein goes down so easily with the added moisture of the lettuce. :)

Everybody will be different. I found I don't crave salads very often. However, I do go to the salad bar every day at work and get some grilled chicken and mix in red onions, cherry tomatoes, green peppers and sometimes cucumbers. For some reason, I have no desire to put lettuce in the mix which seems really weird. But, you will have salads again. Just remember, protein is the priority.

Thanks yall!! I love salad but worried it will be tough to digest. I'm not at a stage where I can have it but glad it will return in the future!!

I can't wait to add salad's to my diet. My surgeon has us wait until 6 months post opt though

Mmmmm Salad!!! Sounds wonderful but I wonder if the lettuce is a waste of space? Any thoughts on this? Great alternative for wraps and sandwiches though!

also craving a salad! The doc wants me to wait at least another 6 weeks before adding ruffage.

I was 6 months post op before my pouch tolerated salad. Now I eat it everyday of course with Protein on it. If I eat just a garden salad I won't stay full for very long.

I crave fresh vegetable salad with a grilled chicken breast. Yum!
