Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm just starting the journey and I wanted to know what to expect in terms of the whole process. I was just referred, so what's next?

Thank you!

Please let me know as well!

I was referred on Wednesday and I just got a phone call that my orientation is next Thursday. I'm hoping to find out more then.

I am a Kaiser patient too so I'll give you my info... Started the process by getting the referral beginning of April then you go to a 4hr class and get a binder. After that you meet with the surgeon and you get your goal weight established after you reach this you have to go to a nutrition class 2hr. I reached my goal weight so they scheduled my psych evaluation 2 weeks after that.June 30th for me. Then I take a prep class and get my date. I am thinking...July... What they don't tell you is each appointment they make you wait at least 2 weeks:( that's what sucks!

It depends on what facility you are using. I was at South San Francisco, and I was referred just before Christmas, had orientation January 6, and surgery February 19. A friend of mine went through the program at the same time (we met at orientation) and she had her surgery 5 days after mine. I did not have to wait between appointments. I had my surgery sooner because I called to see if the psych had any cancellations (he was booking 6 weeks out). I only had to lose 12 pounds. I hit my goal weight, saw the psych, emailed my surgeon, and he scheduled me. It was a fast process but while I was going through it, it was slow!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
