New and so glad I found this site !

Hello,

I'm Kate from south of England and I am due to have a gastric sleeve on the 23 July 2015. I am on holiday right now, so thought this would be a good time to read, read and read some more. I researched a few places which did sleeves and decided to go with the Bariatric Group and will be having my procedure in Poole, Dorset. I am married with 4 boys, aged 53 and have been overweight since I was 32 and my thyroid not only stopped working but my body ate it, thinking it was a foreign object. For the past 3+ years I have had a fight with the NHS for private prescriptions for Natural thyroid rather then synthetic stuff. My GP (ex I might add) was very annoyed I knew more than her and finally I managed to get Natural Thyroid. This has really helped and in 2013 I lost 85llbs but since Oct 2013 to now I have put it all back on. Lose weight, put back on, lose weight put back on has been the story of my 30's 40's and 50's and I need it to stop.

Anyway just thought I would stop by and say hello, hopefully get to know you all and get support/offer support!

Kate

@C2CFOREVER I take Vitamin tablets daily and have done for the past year or so and the consultant was very happy with that. I know there is a vast difference in what others do before their op so I can only go off what I am told. I was advised to carry on taking them and then once post op to take liquid Vitamins for the first few weeks. I have ordered Centrum Advance Liquid, it's more expensive for the month than tablets (£20) but I guess I want to just make sure it goes down easily enough!

Hope this helps.

Kate

Im still waiting for my date. I have requested 21st July and I spoke to the medical secretary yesterday and I should know by Friday. Every time the phone or mobile rings I think " is this the phone call with my date" I will be glad to know.

I have ordered a nutribullet blender today as I think it will be one of the things I will need. Starting to make a list now!

@@chrisredjeep I have that blender too and it's excellent. Once I'm back from holiday I will start stocking up on things I will need post op. You will be in two days before I go in .... so not long now :-)

Kate

Yes I will get that liquid vitamin as well. Cant wait for the date, I will be starting a ticker as soon as I have it!

Now I have my date! 16th July is sleeve day for me!
