June Sleevers!

  • Popular Post

I am so excited that my insurance approved me and I'm set for June 11th. However I'm freaking out a little bit because now it's like HOLY CRAP it's REALLY HAPPENING!

Any other June Sleevers around? Any words of encouragement or advice?

Anybody not doing a pre up diet? I barely qualify and my surgeon does. Not feel my liver size will be an issue. I am 5ft 5in and 243lbs

Oh and my date is June 9th!transformationtuesday

I'm June 10th and I am nor doing protein shakes pre-op. I've been doing 3 oz protein, Vegi's, and a starch for the past 5 weeks. I've lost 20 lbs so far. I have Kaiser insurance and they don't do protein shakes even post-op. It's clear liquids for 3 days, then blended soft foods for a week, then slowly adding textured foods. This sounds way different from what other doctors and insurance require. Does anyone else have Kaiser with a different food plan?

June 16th for me. I'm so ready to get this done and over with. Good luck all.

Me too! Pre-op diet starts Tuesday for me.

Hi all, I don't post much but I read occasionally. I got my surgery date this week and I'm scheduled for June 22nd at Methodist Dallas with Dr. Malladi

And looking at my signature, I need to update it. I'm a failed lap bander. Mine slipped above my diaphragm and caused a hiatial hernia which was repaired and band removed in 2012

Another sleeve sister! i'm June 23rd. Do we have the same dad? My dad wanted me to lose wieght and I only see him every two years or so he lives on the west coast. I don't think I can tell him either. It would be hard to explain to him. His way of telling me to lose weight was to not eat american food only korean food.

I'm June 24th. My preop diet isn't too bad. It says "a high Protein, low carbohydrate diet, consuming no more than 1000 calories per day." I'm allowed to even use Lean Cuisines and stuff! I only have to start liquids at 3pm the day before surgery. :)

I'm getting really excited! I've told my husband, my mom, and a few friends. I don't think I'll ever tell my dad. He's so judgmental.

My dad's west coast too, and with it kind of the "hippie" fear of regular doctors and western medicine. It's really annoying. I'm bipolar and he likes to tell me I don't need my meds. (I've tried that, it lands me in the hospital repeatedly.)

So Hi, sleeve sister! :)

I don't have Kaiser, but I have a similar post care food plan.

Day 1-3 clear liquids only

Day 4-14 Full liquid diet, which strangely includes things like yogurt and string cheese. (Those are liquid?)

Day 15-4 weeks Soft food diet, everything should be moist. Including cooked veggies, deli meats, canned chicken or turkey.

Weeks 5-12 is protein first, then vegetable. 70% protein, 30% veggie.

And mine says "do not use protein supplement shakes unless recommended by your surgeon. Dietiicians and trainers are not your surgeon!"

So sounds like we have a similar post op diet?

No pre op diet here !

wow lucky you..i know they say the diet is required to shrink the liver but I honestly think its more of a diet to try to gettinguse to liquid and non fatty foods for after surgery..im on a 2 week liquid diet and it seems a little too much like its not like im hungry or anything but I just want to bite into something hahahah

Haha ..... I will be in all liquid tomorrow only ... I had an ultrasound to find out I have gallstones I will also be having that removed on Tuesday ... But it also showed my liver to be of normal size . Whew..... I just want the hard part to be over so we can start our new lives !!

I'm not required to do a pre-op but I will at least do a 3 day liquid diet prior to my surgery on the 16th.

I'm 5ft. And 203 lbs.

My date is June 9th. I'm too busy with the end of the school year stuff to think much about it.

I am scheduled for June 23rd also, wish you the best. I start pre op diet on the 11th
