Just wondering if anyone here had wls at the same time as your spouse. My husband and I are considering sending our kids to my mom's house for a week or so while we have surgery on the same day. We would have a friend bring us home from the hospital. We figure by doing it all at the same time we can support each other through the various stages and have someone to commiserate with, ha ha. What say you... wise or naive?

Why not...you two could support each other. However, don't forget that men lose weight a lot easier than women. It's just NOT fair!

Very wise! I have a friend that did it with her husband. It motivated them both to stay on plan, and they did it so there would only be that one recovery time.

My husband and I are doing this together. Our doctors encouraged us to do the procedures about a month apart. This would allow for one to take care of the other during the recovery process. My parents will watch the kids at our house, but there's one of us to help take care of them as there are 4 kids. Our initial plan was to have the surgeries at the same time, but the more we thought about it, the more we agreed with our doctors to have the procedures at separate times. Especially as one would need to drive the other to post-op appointments which are ~1.5 hours away at the doctor.

Only issue is getting around, i had to stay away from driving and lifting things for 5 weeks after the surgery. Might pay to ask about that with your surgeon.

my gutyhad it 2 months after me,he got to his goal in 5 months!im 6.5 months out and 12lbs to goal!smh men!

My husband and I are also having the sleeve done. It will be closer to the end of the yr as we're just getting started. But we are doing them abt 4-6 weeks apart and that's bc our youngest daughter is disabled. Since we can't lift for a few weeks it's necessary that we each have time to heal well. ????

i agree with @@naturegirl (and her doc) that it is advisable, helpful to have surgery a few days/weeks apart from better half

one can help the other during their different periods of recovery

you could still "get rid of the kids" for a while

might/could be easier to have peace and quiet while you are recovering

mom is nice and volunteered

having the sleeve one, two weeks apart etc.you will still be able to help, support the other

you are on the road to a healthier, happier, longer life
