Condensed Protein Shake

I'm on day 3 post-op... OK, so I'm having trouble consuming all the liquid (my program pushes for 80 ounces), in addition to a Protein shake a day. For right now I have to be able to mix a Protein Shake with Water. So it's super hard to take in ALL this liquid... I also can't stand the milk based shakes (chocolate, vanilla, ect), and I can't drink cold Fluid. So I've been using the nectar fruit flavors (fuzzy navel, strawberry kiwi, ect).

Is is a bad idea to combine the nectar protein mix into like to shot glasses with water? So it's just enough water to get the required protein down?

I did mix it just to see, and wasn't too thick and filled two shoot glasses perfect.

Is this a bad idea?

first i am shocked that you are already getting 80 oz of Water a day. that's amazing. don't worry if you can't get it all in each day. you should be building up to that goal. As for the Protein, no issues mixing with water. get t down any way you can.

good luck!!

It should be okay as long as the resulting texture falls into the range your surgeon gave you for this stage. I could only tolerate the nectar Protein that early by dipping a wet spoon in it like pixie stick sugar. The fluids are really more important than the protein this early out though - as long as you're getting enough down that's the big thing. I'm impressed too, that you can get that much Fluid in. I'm 6 months out and sometimes I still struggle to get 64! Congratulations on making it to the other side. :)

Thank you both very much...& please don't praise me yet... Today is the first day of the 3 that I've gotten more than 30 oz in. But I wasn't sure where my priorities were to lay... With the water or the protein...? I feel like I can do one or the other... Lots of trouble with both... It's 11:00 pm Texas time...& I've only gotten down 40 oz... I want this so bad...but I'm so scared, because I don't want to mess anything up...

Yes, I can. I just can't count broth or bullion. I just have trouble drinking the protein, the taste is hard to contain in large amounts.

I was given ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrate in the hospital and ate it over a bit of crushed ice initially. Eventually, I was able to drink it more diluted with water. Now, I use it to make a drink with more water. They have 15 G protein and aren't like protein shakes -- clear and are fruity.

My surgeon's office sells it and I have also ordered it from Bariatric Choice.com. I've tried the grape, wild berry, peach/mango, and green tea/cranberry and liked all of them.

If you have a GNC near you, have someone get you a couple of Isopure waters (40 grams of protein) per bottle. I like the grape personally. I.m getting liquid and protein at the same time by drinking these. I ordered a case from Vitamin Shoppe????

I'll check that out! Does the grape have an aftertaste?
