Pre-op diet and phentermine

I will start my preop diet on 2 days and is base in 800 calories.... I think is pretty insane that's why I wonder if I can be on phentermine for the 2 weeks prior my surgery.... My surgery is on May14th... I will call the doctor tomorrow I just need some kind of appetite suppressant while doing this liquid protein diet to shrink my liver

I know I was not allowed to be on any medication 10 days prior to surgery.

I had to stop all meds during pre op. But I didn't have to lose a certain amount of weight either, which may be the difference.

I asked the dr at the info session today and she said that it'd have to be a month prior to surgery because it raises your blood pressure.

I'm on day 5 of the pre-op diet. I totally messed up day 1 and 3, I hate the brain fog! now tomorrow is the liquid day-before diet and I feel like such a failure! I hope all goes well and my liver is small enough

Phentermine is some scary crap. I was only taking half a pill for 3 months and had terrifying side effects. My blood pressure got so high my PCP told me I had to stop taking it right away or I would risk heart attack. I always wonder if I caused permanent, irreversible damage to my heart. :*( It isn't worth it. Just hang in there with good old fashioned self-control. Your pre-op diet is a short amount of time. You can do it!

I'm with you there! I've been on phentermine multiple times. It scared the daylights out of me the last time in particular. I was having heart palpitations randomly throughout. One night I thought I WAS having a heart attack. I woke my bf up I was so terrified. Never again no matter how desperate I get would I take it. I too worry there is permenant damage. This is one of the things I'll be asking about at my next PCP appointment.

That sounds horrible! I did have to have an echo since I was on it. But I haven't had any side affects that I know of. And I was on it a few years ago.
