I would like to know how many people have had VSG and a hernia repair and how you are doing after surgery. Did you suffer from acid reflux or GERD prior to surgery? Did it come back after surgery?

Iv had GERD for many yrs before I also had hernia repair at the same time I had been on nexium for along time my internist sent me to have the sleeve done it was a 50/50 chance on helping the GERD some do improve some don't. I remained on nexium for 5 months PO and have been off nexium now for months. I get some but I pop a rolaids and it goes away. I do take liquid cinnamon bark herb daily and it helps so much and I initially took the cinnamon as an inflammatory and also learned it helps with GERD and sure enough for me it has. just sharing everyones differant. It's one of them things we each have to do what works for each person. I am 10 months PO now and feel best I have in over 30 yrs!

I had the worst gerd prior to surgery. I'm talking lava choking me awake at night even on meds. Since surgery zero reflux and zero meds!

I had a hiatal hernia and GERD a long time ago, prior to having my my first boy (just turned 10) . I was on 2 (80mg) Protonix a day all the way until my 3rd trimester, then had to come off it. After I had Chandler, some how the pregnancy fixed my hernia. I don't know if all the pressure rearranged it.

Anyway, I am getting sleeved on the 4th and we are prepped if the hernia is still there or not. She'll fix it if so.

Which protein powders and supplements did you switch to? I am in process of getting samples of different ones and hadn't thought about the artificial sugar issue. Which ones worked best for you after your switch?

Do any of you think I would be able to drive at 9 or 10 days post-op?

I'm in the process of planning surgery in Mexico as well as summer college courses that I have to take asap. So I'm also trying to decide if I can swing both.

I think if you try the GENEPRO (wee small scoop gives you 30g/serving!!!), you can get it in the smaller package to start, then if you like it, it goes up to a 3lb container.

Had a hernia that I didn't know I had repaired during surgery - no issues at all since surgery 18 months ago.

@@pansy63 I have used Isopure unflavored powder Protein mix. I am currently using GENEPRO Protein Powder. I purchased both on Amazon.com. Although both of these products advertise "unflavored," there is a noticeable "flavor." However, it is not as bad as the fake sugar mixes. The Genepro is best for me. It has 30 mg of protein in just one tablespoon and can be mixed in hot or cold foods and liquids.

I found samples at unjury', and bariatric choice and there is another place called Natasha? Not sure of name on last one. Also picked up a sample pack at netrition I also got some individual bottles of isopure RTD for right after surgery it is clear liquid with 40 grams of protein. THe other sample pack I got was syntax nectar from smart body nutrition. I didn't want to buy big containers until I figured out what flavors I liked:). To find them I just did a google search for protein powders or drink samplers:). Hope this helps
