Nov 22 will be my DOB

Hello everyone, I joined this group yesterday.. and boy have I found lots to read. Thanks everyone. My name is Trish and I live in Las Vegas,NV and I too will be going to Mexico, to see Dr. Kuri, all the information Ive received during my studies, have pointed to his office. I cant wait until Nov 21, when I will go to TJ for all my blood work and other stuff, then for the 22nd for surgery. The only worry I have is I will need to go down alone,it is Thanksgiving week and everyone I would consider going with me have traveling plans of their own, luckly I found air ticket for 35.00 each way, so I will fly. The drive is only about 5 hours each way, which I will do for fills.

Welcome Trish!! Wow, $35.00 each way? That's amazing.

Dr. Kuri is a much revered Dr. I'm glad you've chosen him and hope you'll have a great experience!!

Trisa C., congratulations! I know that you are excited and scared all at the same time. That's perfectly normal! Start right now getting in the habit of drinking tons of water (but not w/ meals), and some type of exercise that you enjoy - walking, bike riding, dancing, Curves, etc. All of that will help you so much w/ the surgery and the recovery period. You'll do great! Best of luck to you!

November 22 is a great day, it's my birthday! I'll be thinking of you on your re-birthday as I celebrate another year in my NEW life. :D :D :D

I'm Leah. I haven't been banded yet nor do I have a date. I want desparately to do it but I'm a little scared. What if it doesn't work on me? What if I can't handle (psychologically) the reduced intake of food? Friends and family tell me this is too dangerous, yet I'm almost 300 lbs and only 5'3. Isn't that more dangerous? I'm guess I'm sort of doing a stream of consciousness thing here but that's the dialogue that's always playing in my head.

leah- i'm having my banding done tomorrow-i will let you know- but--check intoa support group in your area i went to 3 of them before i scheduled my surgery to get info!--everyone was concernedwith failure and tho i know this is nota FIX IT- it is a guide and a gift-- to help you-keep me posted and say a prayer for me tomorrow

Thanks for the support... everyone needs alittle now and then. I must admit I'm pretty much doing this on my own, so meeting a few peaple with the band is great. thanks all. Trish

Hi, Trish! You have certainly come to the right place for support! I'm glad you found us. I will be banded on Nov.5 and I already know that this is the best decision I have ever made. Congratulations on taking the steps to become a healthier you!

Leah, this is your decision and I can see that you are struggling with it. I hope that you can decide what is best for you very soon. Have you discussed this with your dr? Keep reading all the posts on this forum, it has been very helpful for me. Good luck with your decision.

Hi Trish -- we have a virtual support group here, so if you have any questions or concerns, don't be afraid to ask. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery date -- that's less than four weeks away! We'll send lots of pre-Thanksgivings thoughts and prayers for all you November bandsters.

Hi Trish, I've heard nothing but good things about Dr. Kuri, so I think you've made a good choice. Let us know how you are and ask anything you'd like to know here, everyone is so supportive, and caring.

No subject is taboo here... (see previous thread titles) NOTHING band related is too sensitive, nor too gross, nothing weight gain or loss related is attacked. Nothing presurgery is considered a dumb question, hell nothing post-banding is considered a dumb question.

We're all here for each other, welcome aboard, and good luck on your upcoming banding!
