OK I am 9wks post op and I cannot have a bowel movement on my own yet! I'm taking milk of mag like everyday just so I can have a daily BM. Will I ever be able to take a BM on my own?! This is just ridiculous! :-/

Maybe a daily BM was your norm before. But this new program is not your norm. A person can go every 1-3 days and that's still within normal. Also, maybe your making your bowel dependent on the MOM. That shouldn't be being used all the time. If you are concerned, do bring it up to your Dr. But I think patience, decrease the MOM and realize your body may not need to evacuate every day. Good luck.

I agree. My pre-surgery "normal" was every 2-3 days. Now it's more like 5, but I don't feel constipated and everything seems to be working. Just not enough food to push it all through, I think.

Mine are not daily anymore either. Try increasing your fluid intake if you can. Also I use Miralax on occasion to help loosen things up a little. It's more gentle.

Miralax daily and drink as much as you can and then more.

I've been using MOM once a week and making sure to drink plenty of water, and it helps alot.

My nurse at the hospital told me to take a glycerine suppository. I hadn't had a bowel mvmnt for almost a week post op and the suppository helped within a couple of hours. Stay away from laxatives. This will cause much pain right now.

22 months out and still use Miralax on a daily basis. I actually have a percription for it cause it is expensive.

I am also on morphine on a daily basis for stage 4 endometriousis. So that is a huge problem as well.

I was told to use miralax , I used it every day until I got it going and now I take it every 3 to 4 days.
