Question for the ladies... Were u asked to take of you acrylic nails before surgery... Or no nail polish? Just curious.. Thanks

They ask you to remove nail polish and 'fake nails'l because they use pulse oximetry to monitor your oxygen saturation levels and the probe reads through your nail bed. Hope that helps

Yes definitely ask because every hospital is different, my doctor said no polish or acrylics.

My doctor said no nail polish. I just packed some to take with me and as soon as I was awake form surgery I polished my nails then went for a nice walk!!

I was not told I could not wear polish. I was wearing gel the day of surgery. While I was on the table I heard them discussing that I had gel on my nails so they hooked the monitor to my earlobe. No problem. I do know that nurses and such are never allowed to wear acrylics due to the fact that they can harbor funguses.
