  1. I am finally below 200 !!! Can't remember the last time I have been at this weight!! Started at 270, had RNY on March 16th and have lost 72 pounds so far!! Unfortunately, during my process I broke my foot and required surgery so have not been able to hit the gym like I had hoped. But I am finally cleared and looking forward to working out !!!! How is everyone else doing?

    I have reached One-derland!

A picture on the scale!!! What a great idea!! Lol love it!! It was emotional but also made me more determined to never see a '2' in front of my weight again!!!

    I have reached One-derland!

Thanks everyone!!! I still have a small part of me that is terrified to see 200 again one day. But I am doing everything in my power to prevent that!!! I finally went out and bought a new bra lol. My current one was no longer supporting anything lol. I only bought one and a workout bra because hopefully I will continue to 'shrink'. Good luck to all of you- we can all do this with each other's support!!! We got this!!!
  4. Wow!!! 90 pounds!! Incredible!! I unfortunately have had no nausea, except a few rare occasions when I ate too fast or too much. No dumping syndrome - so life has become very challenging at dinner time. I keep reminding myself how good I feel to keep myself motivated!! I hope you start feeling better soon!!! What does your doctor think is going on?
  5. Just want to catch up with my fellow March RNY peeps !!!!
  6. That is so great!!! It is so amazing how different I feel after losing weight!! I can actually run up the steps and not feel like I am going to die!!! I had mine on March 16th and have lost 72 pounds so far. Unfortunately, I broke my foot in May so I haven't been able to workout. Had surgery on it so it has been a long recovery!! Hoping as soon as my 3 year old gets over her cold- I can hit the gym!!! I am loving my new energy levels and all that depression I had from low self esteem is gone!! And- my biggest milestone- I weighed in at 198 a couple days ago!!! Soooooo excited!!!! Good luck on your journey and keep in touch!!!

  10. Hey I only had to do the liquid diet for 24 hours the day before surgery. I have an endo that my PCP recommended and he is good. He lowered my pump settings by half for that day. I didn't have any lows at all. In fact, I had a lot of high blood sugars. My surgeon took my pump off at the hospital prior to surgery and left it off the entire time I was in the hospital. I was NPO the first day and clear liquids the second day and my blood sugars were in the mid 200's the entire time. The nurses had to keep giving me shots. That was the only thing that annoyed me. I had my pump and supples with me but he wouldn't let me put it back in. So between being NPO and having high sugars, I was beyond thirsty!!!! Like I said before, the stress of the surgery kept my sugars high for weeks after surgery so I never had to worry about lows. I had many of the same worries that you are having!! But it's good that you are considering everything !!! I am glad I had the surgery and it honestly hasn't been hard diabetes- wise. ????
  11. Hey there!!! I have been Type 1 diabetic since I was 6 years old. I had gastric bypass on March 16th and I had all the same questions you have. I was very anxious about how I would treat low blood sugars. To be honest, it has rarely been an issue. My blood sugars actually were running really high after surgery for about a month from the stress on the body. I was shocked at how high they were when I wasn't eating !! The few times I did have low blood sugars, I was able to treat it with glucose tabs and adjusting my temp basal rate with no problem. It was much easier then I thought it was going to be as far as low blood sugars. Please feel free to add me if you want to keep I touch about everything!!! ????

    Insulin Pump

I have been a type 1 diabetic since I was 6 years old and am also on an insulin pump. I had the same fears about low blood sugars!!! I am 2 weeks out and I have been having the opposite problem!! My sugars are running so high!!! I am averaging the mid-200's!! I keep going up on my basal and am almost back to my pre-surgery levels! So frustrating !! I just went to pureed diet and am so scared to eat anything since all the sugar-free clear liquids kept me high. I am hoping this is a stress on the body reaction with the high sugars and things will calm down. We shall see

    Must haves.....

I am almost 2 weeks post-op. The must haves for me were a mouth spray for the incredibly dry mouth I had!!! It was horrible!! That spray saved me!! Chapstick was also a must for the same reason. I also was very glad I brought done clothes to wear. After the catheter came out, was nice to walk the halls in clothes- I just felt more 'normal' lol Good luck with everything!!! You will do great !!!
  14. Got my surgery date today!!! Initially given March 11th- but my husband can't get off work that day. I am so filled with a variety of emotions!!! Scared, anxious, excited and overwhelmed to name a few!!!! Have my pre-op in 2 days- hopefully they will explain what I need to do to prepare !!! And so it begins......... ????

    3/24...New Day New Me!

Annesia- just do what they tell you to do!! Try to walk as much as you can and fluids when you are allowed. I brought loose pants and a shirt to wear in the halls- wasn't sure I needed it but glad I did- the gown was just so large and bulky!! Kept getting twisted lol. I did sleep a lot but that could be due to that fact that with a toddler at home, I needed to catch up!! Lol as far as recovery time, everyone is different. The only issue I have had is weak and lightheaded. But the protein helps that. Haven't had much pain and no vomiting or anything like that. Hopefully your recovery will go smoothly also!!!

    3/24...New Day New Me!

Congrats !!! I am one week post-op and feeling great!! Definitely bring biotene mouth spray or something similar- the worst part about the first day for me was the incredibly dry mouth i had!!!! I could barely talk!! It helped soooo much!! I wasn't allowed ice chips or anything, just the wet swabs so the spray was a savior for me!!! My pain was not bad at all. My doctor had me on a PCA pain pump which kept me comfortable. Had some bad nausea immediately after surgery in the recovery room but the meds they gave me took care of it!! I was up walking the first night after surgery and everyday after that!! You will do great !! Keep in touch!!

    Catheters

Personally I loved my cath!!! Made my life so much easier that first day post-op. But that's just me. Had so many things to lug around to get to the bathroom, would have been more of a challenge than I would have cared for. End of Day 3 post-op, and feeling great !!! How's everyone else doing ?

    Starting to Panic!

Surgery went great!! Was very nauseous for the first 30 minutes or so in Recovery Room but that went away quickly with meds. The hardest part about the whole thing was being NPO until Tuesday night- nothing at all by mouth!! I have never been so thirsty in my life!!! Ian was at a minimal. Walked the halls several times a day while in the hospital- Dr requires walking at least every 4 hours while awake! Unfortunately my blood sugars have been really high since surgery. The surgeon took me off my pump in pre-op and didn't want it back on while in the hospital. So now that I'm back home, working with my Diabetic Educator to lower my sugars. Other than that, I'm feeling great!!! How's everyone else doing ?
  22. I have my surgery scheduled for next Monday March 16th and my three year old has a cold!!!! Woke up this morning with a slight sore throat!! So scared I'm going to be sick and have to reschedule my surgery over a little cold!! We are flying a friend in Thursday and my husband already scheduled his leave to start this weekend!! Sooooo stressed!!! Help !!!
  23. Ok surgery done- day 1 post-op!! Worse thing was waking up in Recovery Room feeling really nauseous !! Thank goodness that only lasted about 30 min. The worse part since the surgery was my incredibly dry mouth!!! How I would kill for a gallon of water right now!! Lol pain isn't bad at all- they have me on a PCA pump for pain . Was up walking last night and will be again today !!! You will do great !!! ????????
  24. @@goodnuff we had our 'last meal' last night in ceremonial form lol lobster cakes and Creme Brûlée for dessert!! Was so delicious!! But I am so ready to never eat that again !! Clear liquids has been fine today, just notice that my energy level is much lower. Going to pack my bag today- including my leprechaun hat to wear on Tuesday! Have to keep one of my St Patty's traditions alive !! I also have a shamrock scrub hat from work but the other hat seems more fun!! Enjoy your evening and good luck tomorrow- you will do great !! Chicken broth is saving my life today! Good luck!!! Keep in touch !!! ????????????????????
