Sick when I eat!

Hi all

I will be 3 weeks post op on wed Jan 28. I am on purée food, but every time I eat I feel terrible. I have tried mashed potatoes, eggs, grits, beans, avacados, and a few other things. I am not even coming close to meeting my protein goals. And i am so sick of being sick!! Can anyone help? Anyone feel this way? When does it get better!!!

I have been having a similar problem. I often have pain when I eat and the dry heaves. I am following the program I was taught - no liquids 1/2 hour before or after eating, small bites, chew THOROUGHLY, wait 5-10 minutes between each bite.

I HIGHLY recommend you contact your doctor/surgeon immediately.

I had gastric bypass. I'm currently waiting on tests - Upper GI and Endoscopy. My surgeon believes that problem is that the tube that connects the stomach (the bypass) has started to close up. It's rare but does happen. The solution is to have the opening widened. This is done by a Gastroenterologist and, thankfully, can be done without having to be cut open again.

To make it through this time I have been living on very watery shakes, plain greek yogurt, and refried Beans.

Best of luck to you.

Mario

I am 5 weeks out and in the same boat! The only thing that doesn't make me sick is cheese!

Been there! It just takes a little time, try applesauce, cottage cheese, Yogurt, sf pudding cup, saltine crackers.

I was doing the same thing it just takes a little more time. Good luck and its OK to go slow.
