  1. I have been having a similar problem. I often have pain when I eat and the dry heaves. I am following the program I was taught - no liquids 1/2 hour before or after eating, small bites, chew THOROUGHLY, wait 5-10 minutes between each bite. I HIGHLY recommend you contact your doctor/surgeon immediately. I had gastric bypass. I'm currently waiting on tests - Upper GI and Endoscopy. My surgeon believes that problem is that the tube that connects the stomach (the bypass) has started to close up. It's rare but does happen. The solution is to have the opening widened. This is done by a Gastroenterologist and, thankfully, can be done without having to be cut open again. To make it through this time I have been living on very watery shakes, plain greek yogurt, and refried Beans. Best of luck to you. Mario
