I had my gastric bypass surgery on 02/12 and I stayed overnight at the hospital (Emory at John's Creek, GA). The procedure took about 2 hours, then I was in recovery, then eventually taken to my room.

Finished with pre ops and cleared for surgery! EGD was no big deal. So relieved it's over.

The surgeon called me the healthiest patient ever, so that felt good! :-)

Finally the day is here! I have to be at the hospital in 45 minutes (6:15) and surgery is at 8:30. Didn't get much sleep last night so hopefully they'll knock me out tonight.

Good luck Shannon 73! Update us when you feel up to it.

Starting to get nervous...my last weekend preop! Going in Tuesday for my new beginning.

We need to keep this thread going after Feb. I can't wait to see everyone's progress.

Mine is Feb. 23!!! Long time waiting for this

Good luck to you, too, Tissie! I'm so excited!! Three more days!

Today is the 1st day I have left the house since I came home from thw hospital, been out shopping and stuff, but I feel pretty good, starting to feel a bit sore, otherwise no complaints 4 postop. We'll see what tomorrow holds.

Welcome Crosby and GAgirl81. Crosby, how bad was hip replacement? I'm having GB first, but I think my hip in next on my list!

It has been a big relief. I was on crutches before and in constant pain. I am 8 weeks post op and only use a cane when I am out. There are two common methods of doing it ( anterior and posterior, lateral is used minimally it seems.) anterior is easier to recover from because there are no cut muscles. I had posterior and was non weight bearing for 4 weeks after. Pain only bad for first week and even then not terrible but I have a high pain tolerance. I am probably going to need the other done before long.

I was hoping to have RNY first but I was in to much pain. I am hoping after the hip this one will feel easy.

Well I got home and looked @ my pedometer app on my phone, I did 4000 steps today. I think that's really good 4 days postop. I did have to take a dose of Hydrocodone after getting home, but I feel great otherwise. I don't think I remember feeling this good this soon after a surgery. I really hope everyone who has had surgery this week is doing as well as me or better.

Gawildkat that is great ! Did they remove your gallbladder ?

I had my gallbladder removed in 2004.
