Ok who else finds that they are vaner about their apperance now then before surgery? Before surgery I was pretty happy if things just fit. Didn't really care if it was loose etc. Now I try clothes on each morning and if its loose it goes to the donate pile! I guess I want to show off my weight loss. LOL its gotten kinda expensive since I have shrunk out of the multiple sizes I had in my closet but it feels great!

I wouldn't necessarily say I feel vain about the way I look. I always considered myself an attractive person, not beautiful or pretty. But attractive, I dressed nice and carried myself well for a bigger girl. But I have dropped from a size 24 to a 14 since August 2014. I was sleeved on 10/06/14. I have lost a total of 58 pounds.

I have had to buy new clothes and such as well. I have donated and sold all my bigger clothes and nothing is over a size 16 or XL in my closet now.

I feel more comfortable in new clothes than I do naked. I now have a complex about being naked, where I didn't before. I was comfortable being a bigger girl. Now I hate the way my skin looks, my breasts are hanging lower (and I have never had children). So I feel way more confident IN clothes than OUT of them! lol

I am sure I will be more confident the smaller I get and the more weight loss I get. I am just now ok with people complimenting me now. I was extremely upset with compliments at first because I never considered myself "huge" before. Now I see photos and I am like "OMG, I was horrible looking and so FAT!" I am getting better with the mentality of being skinner.

My husband can't keep his hands off me and he says I "glow" more now than ever before. He says now I walk with self confidence and how proud he is that I have done this for my health.

I think a little vanity is ok; but my momma told me don't let it go to my head or she will be the one to knock me a peg or two down! LOL so I gotta listen to my momma!

I agree new clothes are EXPENSIVE!!!! I am wearing from stores I could never ever wear from!!! Thankfully I am getting clothes and gift cards for Christmas!

I've been happy shopping in my closet for the last week. I have found 5 pairs of work pants that I haven't worn in 2 years that fit again. I can retire my black yoga pants as work attire. I only go into the office twice a week so my work wardrobe doesn't need to be too extensive. I am not doing any clothes shopping until Spring. I will deal with what I have available to me for the winter.

I will say, I have been taking a lot more selfies (but not posting them anymore) because I love the fact that my triple chin has disappeared since my surgery 5 weeks ago!

I'm sure I care more about my appearance than pre-surgery. I buy nicer shirts (and in colors other than black!). And I'm thinking about getting my teeth straightened, and about how I feel about my loose skin (my chest and stomach look like they're in a race to my knees! - stomach is in the lead).

I'm more "vain" if you consider being more concerned about my appearance than prior to surgery. People treated me differently before surgery and I think my attitude was a direct reflection of that.

Yesterday, on the job, I had to interact with people I hadn't interacted with in several years. I found it amusing that they were ALMOST falling all over themselves to be of assistance to me . Not that they treated me badly several years ago but it struck me again how differently I am treated now.

I do care more about my appearance and I DO FEEL much better with clothes on than naked. My husband said: "you're lookin' good babe", as I was off to work this morning. However, not liking how I look naked doesn't stop me from working out and walking around naked in the women's locker-room. If you don't like what I look like--don't look at me baby! When I was younger I was more concerned about other peoples opinions. I guess since I'm now 49--I just care less and less what other people think. They don't sign my pay check or my performance appraisal.

Yeah, I guess I'm more vain than before. But as @@Katcloudshepherd said, "I'm more "vain" if you consider being more concerned about my appearance than prior to surgery." I dress better now, tuck in my shirt more often, and enjoy being surprised by how I look in the mirror. And all the compliments encourage a little vanity too! But the reality is that if we are truly successful in our journey, before too long people will get used to us this way. The compliments will slow down or stop, and hopefully we'll also get used to seeing ourselves as a normal-weight person. I imagine at that point, the novelty of our new slimmer looks in the mirror will wear off, and the vanity will ebb. So I suppose my philosophy is that a little vanity is okay during our journey – if it helps us stay on course.

No me. I was a plus sized fashionista before surgery. In fact one of my goals is to be able to shop in brick and mortar stores. When you're plus sized it take herculean efforts to look cute unless you want to be content with shopping at Lane Bryants and Avenue. But online there's ASOS and JIBIRI and Sole Society.... I could go on and on. I would often get asked if I had my clothes made because they didn't know there were so many styles in my size. Truth was I spent money on nice clothes and if need be tailoring. I spent money taking shoes and boots to the shop to get straps lengthened or heels cut down to a height I could walk in. I kept my hair done and only went without makeup if I was going to the gym.

The day I can walk into a store in the mall and buy a head to toe look will be a happy day indeed.

Vain, yes. What's the problem?

I don't necessarily think I'm more vain. At my beginning weight, it was almost impossible to find clothes that fit well. If I wanted them to fit better, I would need a good tailor. My weight fluctuated so much, that tailoring them wasn't an option I could afford.

I cared about how I looked before, but didn't have any real options. Now that I'm down (84 as of this posting) I can find clothes that actually fit well. If that's vain, then so be it. If I'm vain.... I'm gonna look GOOD doing it.

I've always been a Priss. Lol sooo no that hasn't gotten worse after surgery. I always looked good at my heaviest too... ????
