I'd check with your nutritionist...juices trnd to be very calorie-rich for the amount of nutrients they provide...even veggie juice. I can't imagine you'd be able to have very much.

My nut said i can drink v8 pre and post opt. I'm on day 8 of pre op. Surgery is mon. I just met with surgical team and nut last mon. That is when they gave me my pre op menu. V8 is right at the top

No kidding? Huh. It's been interesting learning about all the different meal plans both pre- and post-op.

Original V8 according to their website (http://www.v8juice.com/Products.aspx) has 10 carbs, 6 sugars and 2 grams of Protein in an 8 oz serving. I would probably dump if I drank these with that many carbs. And I don't like to drink my calories except Protein shakes.

I'm not a big fan of veggies either. After I eat the 4 oz or so of a protein (or a 20 gram shake) at a meal, I don't have room for more than 2-3 baby carrots or a couple of bites of squash or maybe a couple of bites of broccoli. I wouldn't eat those things before surgery but now, with such a small portion, it doesn't bother me to eat a bite or two. And even with just that small amount of veggies, my labs all came back good at 3 months.

So, maybe give those veggies another try -- just a bite or two really.

I love V8 and have been drinking it from the beginning. It's my go to if I'm running short on protein at the end of the day and I feel like I just can't eat more. I'll mix a scoop of my favorite protein and I'm set. I love it since it's not sweet!

Just picked up the V8 low sodium. 2 full servings vege's each can. 11 oz can. 70 calories, 0 fat, sodium 200, carbs 15 and 3 protein. Going to give it a try! Thanks everyone!
