Newbie

I have been up & down with my weight for years. I recently researched wls and found out that my insurance will cover it. But I have to do a 6 month nutrition class which is ok. I am my heaviest 257 and would like to be 145/150. I attended the seminar and set a appt. For the 1st class. My journey starts. Wouldn't mind corresponding with others who are having or had wls. After research I decided to go with the sleeve. Looking forward to meeting new ppl.#blessed????

Hi Sassy24,

Thanks for responding and Goodluck to you also..I don't meet my surgeon till Nov 26th seems far away but I'm sure it will come fast. But in the mean time I have made a appt with the nutritionist to start the 6 month program. Goodluck and nice meeting u.

WOW, day before Thanksgiving:+) I meet with 4 people on Nov.19...the receptionist said be prepared to stay for 2 hours. Guess i'll find out everything then. Don't know if I have a 6 or 3 month program. Let's keep in touch!!

I start my journey next Tuesday, October 14th. I'm lucky enough to be having it done at the Mayo Hospital in Jacksonville, FL where I live and my insurance pays for it :) . After my coordinator meeting to go over all the paperwork, I will meet with the nutristionist for an hour then the therapist for an hour. The following Tuesday, I meet with the surgeon. I'm really excited and ready to get this ball a rollin'!

Hi beachgal2935! Wow, sounds similar to the way I'm getting started, lol! My first meeting is on Nov.19th and I meet with 4 different people...don't know anything about anything right now, so I'm waiting with bated breath to get started. Good luck to you. Please keep us informed.

Welcome, I'm a newbie as well. I had the seminar and have my 1st appt. with the surgeon and the insurance coordinator tomorrow. I also have an appointment in a couple of weeks with another surgeon (totally different office) and from their I'll decide who I'm going with. I want to have the sleeve too, but I'll wait to hear what they have to say. My insurance requires a 6 month and a 3 month program. I want to try to make it happen in 3 months. Good luck!

Hello,

I will be self pay and thinking of going to Mexico in January to get it done. I only have BMI of 35 and dont think i want to deal with my insurance company. Good luck on your journey. I am still in the researching part. I haven't found a doctor yet.

I wish I could just do it now, but I guess the program will help me to make better choices after the surgery .....good luck and I hope you can have it all done n 3 months also....keep us posted????

I have 12 more days to go until the end of my six months of supervised diet. All of my tests are out of the way and we can submit for approval after my next visit. I am just at 40 BMI and, other than arthritis, have no co morbidities so it might be challenging to get approval. I am so worried as my out of pocket this year was 8500.00. I can not afford to do this again next year. My surgeon is on notice that time is a big issue for me since we change plans 12/1/14. Have you told any of your friends or family yet? I am telling very few people and so far the two I was most worried about have been fantastic.

Your six months will fly by!! Don't get complacent! I found myself having to huff and puff by the end..... lol

My name is Tawana, 32yrs young living in Sanferndo Vally,CA 25-30 mins outside of Los Angeles! and I'm currently going through the stages needed to become Sleeved and I'm needing some support and some encouragement going through this hole thing! I have done a year research on the gastric sleeve and know that this is the right healthy thing for me to do, I guess it just would feel better to be around others that have gone through or in the beginning stages like I am! I'm a mom of 3, and I've been over weight my hole adult life! So I'm truly ready for this life style change and my new journey to onederland!!!! Hope to hear from someone soon.

Hello! Good luck on your journey. I had to do 6 months of weight management classes (finished my last one last week) and they flew by. Good luck with everything :)

Hey all, I'm a newbie as well. Just starting this process. My insurance does not have a supervised diet(thank goodness) I do need to have a psych evaluation and center of excellence. I'm hoping to be sleeved in January. I wish you all the best of luck with ur surgeries and approval. Let's get to the losers bench!!!
