I was so excited about my future I didn't care about the discomfort I was in. you will do fine. the pain is tolerable and treated with med's and just remember the sooner you are up and walking the better. use a heat pad to your left shoulder if you have gas pain. ice packs to your incisional pain. drink plenty of fluids. and give yourself a break. you will have just had surgery so rest. best wishes

What Terry said! I remember how excited and nervous I was as the date and time got closer -- and being on a pre-op diet can bring a lot of stuff up, too. I had never been an overnight patient in a hospital before and I was surprised at how much better it was than I thought. I was glad for a sense of humor as it is all kind of bizarre -- the paperwork, elegant gown, being rolled on a gurney, etc. The thing about elective surgery is it's just that -- something we are choosing. So it's not like you're there as a result of injury or illness. I hate going to the dentist and compared to that it felt like a breeze. The discomfort after was not bad -- I filled my prescription but did not take any of it as I don't like the side effects of narcotics. Good luck to you -- keep your reasons for doing this at the front of your thinking. Reclaiming life is a powerful thing.

Thank you both so much for responding, one good thing about these nerves, is I have no appetite so food is not an issue at the moment, and I told my hubby that I didn't want any kind of "last meal" because I will eventually be able to eat again, just smaller portions and better choices...most of the time lol I will not have a stay in the hospital, as mine is treated as out patient, I've already filled scripts, and now it's just this big waiting game, and I'm not a patient person lol

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
