Protein shake question

This may be a dumb question but today I am 1 week post op and my dr advanced me from clear liquids to puréed. Now my question is if I have a protein shake is it better to wait the 30-60 minutes after eating. I do feel full after my shake so I am just worried that I would feel sick drinking water immediately after. Any help would be great thanks!

yes, wait to drink the protein drink at least 30 minutes after eating. That goes for any liquids.

I sip on my Protein shakes and on my Water all day long. I work in a call center so I'm sipping on either through out the day. Usually in the 8.5 hours at work I take in 32oz of water and 24 oz Protein shake.

I don't wait 30 mins before or after with shakes.

I think it depends on what you're using the shakes for.

For me, since I drink one as my Breakfast to take the place of one of my 3 meals, yes I absolutely wait the 30 minutes afterwards to ensure that it keeps me full, otherwise it becomes a long 5-7 hours waiting for the next meal.

But if you're using them to simply add Protein to your day and still eating the meals your bariatric team suggests (all of our plans are so different) then like Pixers said I wouldn't worry about it.

^^^ totally agree :)

I have my shakes as my breakfast and my lunch. Then eat whatever my family is having for dinner.
