Good for you. I just got my approval from the insurance company on the 7th of Aug. I was told that it takes up to 30 days for a decision. I called the clinic and the insurance company(I would recommend) . My clinic had (or said) sent my request June 6th, June 16th,June26, and finally July 7th. The insurance company kept saying they didn't get paper work. I called twice a week to check on my status. Then I was told it took up to 30 business days.

So keep in touch with your doctors office and insurance company. Don't feel like you are bother anyone, because this is your life. They may do many surgeries, but there is only one you.

I do hope everything goes right for you. I had my gastric bypass last year, have lost just over 100 lbs. Now I have skin hanging and my insurance won't cover a plastic surgeon to take it off unless my doc writes to them that it is "medically necessary". I can only pray that that will happen. I feel like my body looks gross. So not what I was expecting. I pray this does not happen to anyone else, and NOT trying to stop from having the surgery. I wouldn't have lost the weight without having the bypass surgery. I am glad I had it.

Elpasovet,

Sounds like we may be on the same schedule. Ive had my first surgeon visit. Today is my first Nut visit. Psych eval next Thursday with 2nd Nut visit to follow. Im only waiting to have the upper endoscopy sceduled then it all goes to insurance. Lets keep in touch. Our surgery dates may be close.

Thanks so much for the suoport. Its so good to know its just not ME feeling like..."eat it because you will never taste it again". This week Im really trying to control what I eat and be conscious of it. So far I've enjoyed all the protein shakes I've tried. Maybe because I've been using them so long (I lost weight on HCG (if I can eat 500 for 6 months I KNOW I can handle this lol) but gained it all back when I went thru my divorce). Ive done EAS carb control shakes but that's not enough protein for this. I like premier protein but only the chocolate. Now I've gotten the powder 100% whey protein vanilla by Body Fortress at Wal-Mart. Its really good to me; plus one scoop has 60g of protein. I mix with 8oz of Almond milk unsweetened. I add a tsp of truvia and it tastes like a milkshake. I shake it in my blender bottle with crushed ice. I may try the chocolate too.

Congrats on your approval! The psych evaluation has held me up the longest. It took months just to get an appt then had to wait 2 weeks on paperwork to be completed. I hope it doesn't take long but I'm just praying for approval at this point. Thanks for the advice..I'll def be keeping in touch with dr office and insurance.

Thank you! I hope everything works out for you and you are able to get the skin surgery! I would keep pushing the doc..let him know how bad it's affecting you.

Elpasovet good luck! I'll be praying for you as well! Let us know how everything goes!

Looks like I'm almost right there with you. Today is my visit with a vascular specialist. Once I'm cleared by this doctor, they can submit to my insurance. I hope we hear from insurance quickly! Almost there!

Jomamacita7 Good luck! Praying all goes well!

I guess I was lucky, I had all my consultations in one day. Including meeting 3 doctors. It was just the later part that took so long (I finished my 6 months at the end of March). That's when I realized I needed to keep in touch with everyone concerning my surgery. So keep me inform as to when you get your approval . Hoping you much speed and luck.
