Expected weight loss?

Ok guys after eight years of consideration/insurance hoops, I've finally gotten approval for my band next month!!! Can you tell I'm a little EXCITED!! I know everyone loses weight at different speeds but how much weight should I expect to lose in 6 months? I ask because we have a Caribbean cruise scheduled for Jan '15 and I would like to get a few things this summer while it's on sale plus it'll be hard/impossible to find swimsuits in Kansas in January..

Thanks!!

Hi there and congratulations on your upcoming surgery! We are all different. It I believe the 1-2 pounds per week is a good guide. I was banded last November and am 60 down and that is five a month but some of that was on pre-op. Also I am not on a diet, not "perfect" etc.

Congratulations!! It is super exciting isn't it.. Everyone is different. I'm having to keep telling myself that as well..I've lost 13 lbs since June 26th.

My doctor says 1 pound a week is average, but you'll probably lose more than that in the beginning because of the pre-op diet and the first few weeks of the post-op diet. So, conservatively, you're looking at like a 25 pound weight loss in 6 months.

I'm 5 months out and down 45 pounds (that includes the weight I lost during the pre-op diet) but I also don't diet or exercise as much as I could. I went into this looking for help with a lifestyle change, not another diet, so I am not a perfect bandster by any means! I do think my experience is about average though.

So congrats and best of luck to you in your journey!! You're going to love it :)
