Protein shakes...how long does it take you to finish one?

OMG...I just started on stage 2 of full liquids and opened a can of premier Protein shake and only took out 1/2 the can. It's taking me forever to finish it!! I'm assuming this is normal.....in comparison when I'm drinking Powerade Zero or Crystal light, it's a lot easier.

And my goodness this shake is sweet!! (chocolate) :/ I think my tastebuds have changed as well. Nothing tastes good (which might be a good thing lol)

I've been working on this for 1/2 hour :o it'll probably take me an hour. Please tell me it gets better as the weeks go on? *sigh*

Absolutely it gets better. I had the same thing after my surgery. It seemed weird that I couldn't handle cold Water and had to have it luke warm. Also, I could get more Powerade Zero down than wate

  • Try the strawberry Premier Protein shake. I'm 9 weeks post op & can only drink 1/2 of the carton. I drink the other 1/2 for a snack. Also, I like the Syntrax Nectar product. You can buy individual

If your shakes are too thick or too sweet right out of the container, mix one up in a big container with a couple ounces of milk. It makes it less sweet and it's just more Protein. You can then keep it in the fridge and just take out small portions at a time. I had a hard time swallowing for the first week because it hurt to swallow in my chest. it will get better as the swelling goes down.

That's a great idea!! I'll do that tomorrow with the next can :) Didn't even think of diluting it a bit lol

You can buy individual packages so you can try different flavors. I make mine with light soy milk. These shacks aren't as thick as Premier. UNJURY makes good shakes too. Good luck with your journey.
