Protein

It's been a week since I got sleeved. I started at 216 lbs and my current weight is 209. Even though it's only 7 lbs I am happy because without the sleeve I just know that it wouldn't be possible. Today I started taking vitamins and drinking protein shakes. My question is: How much protein should I take per day??? I have heard everything from 50-100 grams! Is 50 grams enough? Is 100 grams too much??? Help please!

My goal will be 60-65 grams of protein a day. That's what my surgeon set for me. I am not sure on how much is too much.

My goal is 80-100 per surgeon at least for the first 8weeks. I'll know more after my next check in.

This varies GREATLY clinic to clinic. I was only 40 - 50 grams during the first month. Check with your clinic nutritionist. They should have provided you with what their recommendations are for you and your surgery (I had an RNY, much different from a sleeve). Your team is there to help you - take advantage of them!

I was told between 60 to 80 grams of protein per day, so I drink 2 protein shakes and eat some protein like chicken. But check with your doctor they always knows best. Good luck and congrats on your choice to be healthy.
