Meeting milestones

Today is exactly 6 months since surgery. I had my 6 month follow up today too and it went well. My goal going into todays appointment was to be under 190lbs and today (according to their scale) I weighed in at 188. My scale is what I normally go by and I weighed in at 187, which I was thrilled with!

The doctor also said I am considered a success because I had lost more than 50% of my excess body weight, which I didn't even realize. And she said that they consider the surgery a success if someone can lose at least 50% of their body weight within a year of having the surgery and I was able to do that in 6 months.

Since starting this journey I have lost 88 pounds! and feeling great. :)

Congrats! I had my 3 month follow up last week and was told that 30% of excess weight loss at 3 months and 50% at 6 months was the norm so it seems fairly similiar/standard. My loss was at 33% so I had that same feel good feeling you have right now but I'm just 3 months behind ya!

That is wonderful!! I am happy for you! My surgeon told me that too at my 6 month follow up. He said technically speaking I was considered a "successful surgery" since I lost a certain percentage. Even though I haven't yet reached my personal goal, he said anything past what I lost at the point was "a bonus" :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
