Throat Pain - 4 days post op

Has anyone had throat pain? It's not like a sore throat, it feels like there is a lump at the top of my throat or a big gas bubble and it's super hard to swallow. It isn't constant but it's been coming and going all day :( A few times this evening it felt like someone punched me in the throat! My neck is even sore on the right side. Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience :)

Although this didn't happen to me, someone on my surgery team (maybe the PA? Can't remember now) warned me that I might have a sore throat after a couple of days, because of intubation for the anesthesia. I would say that if it's not better by Monday or Tuesday, give your surgeon's office a call to check that all is well. Good luck!

9 days post op and yes I has the scratchy throat for a couple days and woke up on the 3ed day with my throat on fire. Went to ER and had Strep Throat! What a misery to go through all of this at the same time. They gave me morphine shot and sent me home with The Z-pac (antibiotic) and morphine tablets because the pain meds I was on was not sufficient! I was really not happy or nice on my second trip to the ER and made them give me a shot of penicillin. Things turned around quickly for the better after that! If it's just scratchy irritation, it's what's expected. At four days I'd call the doctor, especially if it's getting worse. Good luck to you!.

I had a sore throat the day before surgery (6/11/14) I was told to come in anyway and they would evaluate me. Well I had no fever so surgery proceeded. wow! i wish they postponed! I am 5 days out and just got my voice back partially. Could not swallow at all for days. My neck was so swollen and sore to touch. I could not sleep for more than 30 minutes at a time, until last night. I still wake up coughing but not as often. Thank Goodness for my "Hug Pillow" I slept for a 4 hour stretch last night and hope to make that longer tonight!
