Question about binders?

How long did you wear your abdominal binder? Did your surgeon have you put a towel or pillow in between? I find the binder uncomfortable but wearing it wil a thick towel has helped.

Also how long was it till the gas pain stopped? I know it's different for every person but for YOU how long??

Hello. I didnt have have to wear an abdominal binder after surgery. My gas pain last for a good week. Walking really helps.

I'm 8 days out and am still wearing my binder. I find it very comfortable and takes some of the tension off of my large incision. As for the gas pain, I never had any to begin with.

I was just the opposite. I felt bloated and didn't want anything pressing on my belly. I wore the loosest pants possible and no binder. I was up and walking 1-2 miles/day within 12 hours after surgery and never really had any gas pain.

These comments make me wonder if a binder might help push the gas out.. I'm preop and nobody has mentioned a binder, but was wondering myself about it.
