Incision site

Did any one else have the JP drain taken out before they went home from hospital? I have to pack it with gauze and change the bandage every day. I'm only 5 days post opp. How long before this closes up? It's hard to sit up straight or bend. Any one else?

I was pretty lucky; my drain was removed just before I was discharged from the hospital. It was bandaged up and I only had to change the bandage once before it dried up.

Mine was taken out before I went home. It all depends on the surgeon and i believe also the amount of fluids coming out. By the 4th day when I was released my had pretty much stopped draining.

I went home with mine. It was removed 9 days after my surgery. I was still bandaging it for a week after that. So 16 days after my surgery I was done with bandaging and all the other incisions were uncovered by then as the tape feel off.
