6 Month Diet Plan

I am 3 months into the 6 month diet plan but I don't have my first appointment with my doctor until May 30th because he had no openings. I attended his free required seminar about a month ago. Anyone know if the 3 months I've put in will count even though I haven't seen him yet for my initial consult? I have BCBS Highmark of WV. I know I qualify otherwise based on BMI of 42.2.

I work at a hospital that is a center of excellence for bariatric surgery. Many of my coworkers have had some type of bariatric surgery so I've gained alot of information just from my workplace.

Hi Shardy727

I think you have to actually go for a consultation 1st and the Dr will chat with you and give you instruction on what is needed / requirements for the surgery.

I have BCBS as well

1st was a seminar

2nd consultation

3rd 1 Nut visit to start my 6 months

4th 2nd visit NUT

Now I just have 4 more Nut visit to go

I was afraid of that. My PCP mentioned something about just doing a letter for me and submitting my weigh ins for the 6 months with it. I guess I'll find out for sure at my consult visit at the end of the month though. I wish he would have had openings sooner!

I have Aetna but I was told my PCP visits would count but I had to make sure I saw a nut at least twice also.

It will count...when I contacted my surgeons office someone mailed me papers to fill out and the six month flow charts to go ahead and start those with my PCP, I even had my chest x-ray, labs, and EKG before my seminar. I live in WV also, hello and hope we talk again, you are fine!

Awesome! I just want to get the ball rolling on this! Mentalistfan, have you had your surgery yet?

No, last on my list is a nutrition class, Monday, May 19...then my paperwork will be gathered and sent to insurance for approval!
