How long did you have to wait for your insurance to approve of surgery?

I only had to wait 2 days. I have BCBS Anthem out of Georgia.

Lucky my insurance is very strict I had to wait 2 yrs but I finally got it on Monday just taking it day by day

I have bcbs of il and there is no diet for me. I just had to go to a pulmonologist and cardiologist as well as have a psych evaluation .

I have United Health Care. I had to do 6 months of weigh ins. After I got that taken care of I got my approval in just a couple of days.

I have BCBS and they didn't make me go through any waiting just routine stuff. I was approved in less then 24 hrs

I have UHC and I didn't have anything like a 6 month diet or counseling thru optum. I hope my approval goes as smoothly as the process getting to this point. Hoping for a mid May surgery.

How long? Depends on from what point... I first applied with my PCP back in 2009... Denied. Finally got approved to consult with the surgeon Dec 2013. Once I lost the pre-op weight (12 pounds) it took 2 weeks for HealthNet to approve my surgery. I had surgery 5 days later.

Amanda729, I'm in GA also with Anthem. What type of diet documentation did they require? I'm told I don't need a supervised diet but they want me to have a documented and appraised attempt for 6 months in the past 2 years. Just wondering if they will take my own journals or does it have to be something "official".

I had the 6 mos. then it was submitted jan 2 got a call jan 7 that I was approved

I have Highmark BCBS PPO Blue, I have my psych consult today and last check-in on Feb 11th (6th month supervised diet) I'm going nuts worrying about insurance approval.
