Working out

How long after surgery did you start to really work out? My Dr. said I could start 2 weeks after my procedure but after 10 minutes on the elliptical I felt dizzy and sick so I stopped. I want to get started with a routine but I don't want to jump the gun.

PS I'm 4 weeks out now

I started at about 4 weeks. Maybe just do the treadmill and don't push too hard at first. Keep at it though. Exercise is the best!

My surgeon suggested I walked at least 30 minutes each day starting with the first day of surgery and at 3 weeks post op I hit the gym. My first day back I did 3.5 miles on the elliptical then 3 miles on the bike. I will be 4 weeks on Friday. I also had a hiatal hernia repair so I'm not allowed to do crunches yet or any push ups. I say listen to your body and try to increase your time and distance each day. Maybe you can stick with walking or the stationary bike and take it slow at first. Make sure you are hydrated and taking your vitamins as well.

I started on the stationary bike.... Just got my legs moving again and beginning of building up the cardio. Started out after two week checkup post surgery.
