Banded 2-14-14

  • Popular Post

Yesterday (Day 1-surgery Day) I was banded at 9am, left hospital at 1pm. I was groggy/sleepy with Anesthesia prob until about 6pm. When my eyes were closed, I could still hear what was going on around me. I stayed fully awake from 6-10pm. Sipped Water here and there all day. Maybe 10 oz total? Throat was dry from tube in surgery I suppose. Took pain meds at exactly 4 hrs all day. Also took phenergan for nausea every 6 hrs (just to make sure I didn't get nausea, haven't felt it since recovery room). I have consumed the gas-x strips a lot...those are awesome in aiding the gas pain. I did wake up at exactly 4 hrs all night with discomfort....took my pain pill and had a gas-X strip at the same time, fell back asleep. I did sleep in my bed all night, but the 4 hr pain was like clockwork. Haha. So odd.

Up this morning (day 2) and I get to take a shower today. They used the glue for my incisions. The largest incision is above my belly button, assuming that is where the port is. Husband is the best ever...He has laundry going, lunch for him and our girls cooking...and picking up around the house while I sit here on the couch. Couldn't be more blessed.

Stay tuned and I will add my activities for awhile (until I go back to work in about 10 days) on this thread if anyone wants to follow.

I can have any clear liquids like chicken or beef broth, jello, Popsicles, coffee, and fruit juices. I'm on clear liquids for a whole week. I hope this gets easier.

I love my ocean spray 100% juice no sugar added cranberry grape.....I bought some gelatin to make my own jello with it. I am not a fan of jello brand sugar free jello.

I am on day 4 post op...I feel much better today than yesterday. Yesterday I still was pretty sore in my core ab area when getting up/down, no matter how I got up. Today, very little to no discomfort most of the time. I consumed more liquids today than yesterday so far....still not at 64oz. I will get there.

Glad you're feeling better today. I'm still sore in my tummy area too and out of breath. I'm also very hungry still. I just try to drink all day since I have no restrictions.

The protein shakes really have helped my hunger feelings. I know it will help you once you can have them too.

I can't wait. Only 4 more days lol

Are you able to consume the 64oz a day yet? Cause I am not. Just wondered.

Yes I am. Drinking doesn't bother me at all. I'm drinking something every few minutes. Well it seems like it. I have a 7.5cc band with no fluid right now. My doctor said I'm wide open.

I think it's because I had a hiatal hernia repair at the same time.

I had a hiatal repair too. Do you know if your doctor put fluid in your band during surgery?

I don't think he did....he didn't say. I have a friend who used him as well and she can't remember. Haha.

Feeling even less sore today. Maybe today is the day for the full 64oz. :)

Homemade egg drop soup....delicious!!!!!

thanks for the idea! Going to look on pinterest for a recipe!

It was very simple. It didn't look the same as the restaurant, but was purer in form I think. It tasted great.

Another revelation today ....unflavored Protein powder in my cran-grape juice. Tasted like a fruit smoothie. Nutrition freak friend puts it in his Gatorade and I was like hmmmm....tried it and though praise The Lord, a Protein Drink without milk. Lol.

That sounds so good right now. I start full liquids on Friday and I can't wait to have a small bowl of cream of wheat for breakfast and a Greek yogurt for lunch. Maybe do a tomato soup for dinner.
