December 2013 Need some help

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I could use some help. I'm about 5 weeks out and apparently Mr. Grumps (my pouch) decided to make me a vegetarian. Every time I try to eat meat... He decides to mess up my day. Anyone have any suggestions as to things to eat? Also maybe some help on a good Vitamin schedule? Having a hard time remembering them. Thanks so much!!!

LOL... I cannot do meat very well either and I just don't have the taste for it anymore either !! The only beef I eat is corned beef - go figure. I could live on eggs and veggies totally.

Beans and cottage cheese, have you tried meat substitutes? They are packed full of Protein... I like Morningstar grillers crumbles (ground beef substitute) and their veggie burgers are good too, they also have meatless meatballs and maybe try tofu? Tofu takes the flavor of whatever you cook it with but I can't do the texture.

Hello. I hope this might help you. I bought from Amazon (you can find in any drug store), a pill dispenser that is Sunday thru Saturday and has FOUR (4) spots for your daily pills. This allows me to seperate my Vitamins with Iron from my Calcium citrate etc. My boxes have Morning/Noon/Evening/Bed on them.....I normally take things around 9 am/1pm/5pm/8pm ish..........this dispenser is one big one that allows you to POP OUT that daily only and leave the rest at home...so, I have them on the go with me. I do my pills weekly along with my hubbys etc...it's easy, handy and I don't have to open up a zillion bottles each day, all day. For food ideas.....I am 6 weeks post op, gastric bypass. I have no issues with food. Doing a high Protein greek yogurt in am, lots of fish, shrimp, turkey and chicken. Plenty of cheese too. It's all about the Protein first! I am doing 1/3 cup per mini-meal. I am doing three meals a day, getting in TONS of Water (all zero calorie) and getting in about 65-80 grams of protein per day. Sometimes, I only get in about 50 grams.......it's tricky, but it's working! I am 37.5 pounds down in exactly six weeks....and I am losing one pound a day right now, (for the past 7 days). I hit a 13 day stall and was so upset! I was eating too many calories. So, I am down to 800 cal's max per day and I am losing like crazy. Good luck to you!!

Cream cheese chicken in the crock pot

Baked tilapia

pureed sloppy joe meat

Creamed chicken in gravy (crockpot)

I tried tuna. Thought I'd die.

I got this recipe from the world according to egg face. It's very easy on the tummy and yummy, too!

Shelly's Baked Ricotta

8 oz of Ricotta cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
1 large Egg, beaten
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
salt & pepper to taste
1/2 cup Marinara Sauce
1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese

Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave.

Cream Cheese chicken

1 package of boneless, skinless, chicken breasts

1 block of cream cheese

1 packet of zesty Italian dressing seasoning (You can find this right by all the salad dressings)

2 cans cream of low fat chicken Soup

Put it all in the crockpot and cook on high for 4 hours. My crockpot runs hot, and I cook it on low. When it's done, I serve it over noodles for my family. I take some and puree it a bit and store in 3 oz containers. It's yummy and goes down well.

I'm curious because I like the flavor of ricotta but I cannot do the grainy gritty texture of it.. My question for those of you who have tried this recipe, does the consistency change becAuse it's baked with egg and Parmesan or is it still that gritty texture?

I hesitated to answer because I've never thought of ricotta as gritty. I guess it is slightly though. I don't think the texture changes really. It sort of tastes like noodles-less lasagna.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
