December 19, 201312 yr I feel bad and think I made a big mistake. I know I can't eat nothing but it hurts when I drink. I love to drink water and it's hurts so bad. What I need to do.
December 19, 201312 yr We need more info -- are you just banded, what is going on? I would contact surgeon or go into ER immediately! This is not okay.
December 19, 201312 yr How fast are you drinking? How much are you drinking at once? What does the pain feel like? I would venture a guess that you are gulping too much at once instead of sipping a few drops at a time. My goal that early out was an ounce every 15 minutes. Then I got to 2 ounces over 15 minutes after week 1. What are you drinking from? Relax! You are going to be fine.
December 19, 201312 yr Author I think I'm drinking to much I'm drinking from a shot glass. I love to drink water n I can't.
December 20, 201312 yr I was just banded on Monday as well. You can't gulp it anymore. I think of it like drinking whiskey or brandy or something you have to sip and savor. I definitely drink more than 1 oz per 15 mins, but it's little sips at a time. Sip, swallow, sip, swallow (and not too fast). If sips don't work, yeah you should go to the ER!
December 20, 201312 yr Yeah somewhat but not too bad. I'm drinking hot tea, protein shakes, juices, broth, and water. I've tried to limit my broth to limit my sodium to keep me from being too thirsty. I feel like I'm constantly sipping on something. Maybe that's why my shoulder won't stop hurting. Are you always thirsty?
December 20, 201312 yr Oh sometimes I just hold the water in my mouth to makes sure everything gets moistened lol
December 20, 201312 yr Author Yea I'm always thirsty but not really hungry. I always use to love to gulp down a glass of ice cold water. I never drunk any other fluids before but my protein shakes n I some ice cold water
December 20, 201312 yr It is very frustrating in the beginning being so thirsty and wanting to drink so badly. You just have to take it slow and eventually you will be able to drink like you used to. Best of luck on your recovery!
