Broth, Broth, And More Broth!

Recommended Posts

I honestly don't know if this is/was completely okay or not but about 1-2 weeks or so post-op I made a french onion Soup and strained off everything even remotely chunky. It was broth based but had a lot of flavor added to it (a cup of wine, onions, etc.) The majority of it was broth, however.

Are there any recipes that you could do that you could cook with other items and then take all of the "other" out of it?

Once I was on full liquids, I felt like I could get more & different flavors in. I heated up some Tomato Soup with a bunch of fresh basil. Once it was hot, I threw out the basil & stirred in a little goat cheese. It was fabulous.

The other Soup I enjoyed was cream of asparagus blended with some potted meat product (I know...gross, but I wanted some ham flavor & the protein). Once it was perfectly smooth, I heated it & thinned it with a little chicken broth, added a splash of Tabasco, & stirred in a little grated Parmesan. It was delicious & felt like "real" food to me. Good luck...the first part can be rough, but you'll get through it!

Your local super market might sell "Better than broth." If not, it is available online. It saved my life during full liquids because the flavor was so much better than anything else I could find. I tried both the chicken and beef flavors and they were great. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
