  • I'm also scheduled for surgery tomorrow. High-five! My surgeon gave me a strict post-op liquid diet: Protein shakes, liquid Soups, some powder for Fruit drinks, etc. I'd avoid the things you mention

Two days post op I was on Clear liquids. Most new bandsters are at that point. The post op diet is pretty meh but it exists for a reason. Your stomach has had a band placed around it and stitched into place. You must give it time to heal fully and properly. So my guess is no, spicy V8 and pureed spicy guacamole is not okay for you two days post op.

If in doubt call your surgeon's office.

My surgeon gave me a strict post-op liquid diet: Protein shakes, liquid Soups, some powder for Fruit drinks, etc. I'd avoid the things you mentioned. Yeah, the pre-op diet sucks... it's gonna be worth it 6 months out though. Good luck tomorrow!

My post op protocol was one day clear then on to full liquids. Egg drop soup was on the list -- a hand-written note from the surgeon. I made a spicy egg drop soup that was really yummy. Now I'm three weeks out and enjoying hot ginger, garlic, etc. Made black bean soup with chiles and an Indonesian squash soup. There is yumminess in your future! Just follow doctor's orders, heal up well and then enjoy all the foods you love, just in very small amounts that, miraculously, fill you up.
