You won't need much. I brought my toothbrush and toothpast. A couple changes of underwear, my cell phone, charger and extension cord. A long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt ( you might get cold, even if you never do, it changes after surgery.) Slippers that are good for walking around the ward. And something very loose and comfortable to wear home. Oh,, I also brought my own pillow because theirs suck! Good Luck!

The only thing I can add to Seela's advise is to bring a small FIRM pillow with you to aid you in getting in and out of bed and it's good support when you cough. Couldn't find a pillow that I felt was 'firm' enough in stores so I wound up going to a thrift store and found the perfect one right away.

I would also take hand lotion. You w/b in and out of the bathroom and washing your hands a gazillion times. I didn't think twice about it until I got home and the tops of both hands were tore up. It took 5 days using lotion at home to get them back to normal. Doing dishes burned!

Lip balm is a must! Plus many women start their period right after surgery so I would take some feminine care products just in case. Good luck on your surgery!

Hi! There is a whole forum for this. I examine it daily to make sure I have everything ready :D .

Gas x strips...and chargers for your phone if you bring one. Besides that you'll be fine.

If you plan on showering there then bring travel sizes of those things.

I didn't because I just didn't care. I was covered up and spent most of my time focusing on sipping. You won't have time for much else besides sleeping, walking a lot, and sipping.

Keep it simple is my advice.

I am a over preparer and I packed nearly my whole bathroom and bedroom... the only thing I used was my chapstick and pillow for my tummy for the ride home. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
