  1. I was a strong, happy over weight person. I have someone who loves me big or smaller. I carried my weight as part of my identity. I was big and strong and sometimes intimidating. 5'10 255 is a pretty big woman. But now, almost four months post op and 191 pounds, I am amazed by the transformation. I like seeing my face. I like being in photos. I like not feeling like I take up too much space. I like not imagining that people are seeing me through a fat filter. This is an amazing experience and if you're pre-op and scared I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone. I'm a fairly intelligent and self aware person, yet I had no idea of how I'd limited myself because of my weight. Do the research. Read what people are going through and make the right decision for you. But this girl here--- I'm ecstatic. I feel like a butterfly coming out of my cocoon of fat. You can do this.

Nov 2013 Sleevers Progress So Far...

Surgery date Nov 18-weight 242. Cw- 202 im 5'10 and had a low bmi so I'm trying to be patient.
  4. I like going to the gym. I like walking on the treadmill and then working my target areas-- butt, abs and arms. This is just a reminder to warm up before pushing yourself. I didn't and I hurt my knee and have been out of the gym for a week and limping. Sigh. I know better than this. Best thing for me is to walk kind of slow for five minutes. Stop the tread mill and stretch. Then continue on the treadmill, increasing speed as I feel my legs warming up.
  5. I've been an Old Navy cargos girl for a long time because that's what fit. I've never done skinny jeans or fitted clothes of any kind. But my chunky monkey clothes are too big for me now, as pointed out by my best friend. So we went shopping. And it was overwhelming. I kind of shut down because 1) I have no idea what size I wear. 2) I don't know what my style is. My style before was kind of created for me as I found what fit and went with it. So, yeah, it's a great dilemma to have... But it's still a dilemma.

Pokeyjo, fortunately I wear a longish sweater at work so it hides the baggy butt as my pants get too big. Lol

Ashcase, thank you so much for all that information! I really appreciate you for taking time to share that. Makes me feel hopeful that I won't be a cargos girl forever. Lol

    I'll be your buddy!!!!!
  11. I'd love to have a surgery buddy to text and private message so I don't annoy my family. Plus it might be helpful to support someone else and not focus on myself. Any takers?
  12. Waiting to poo before stepping on the scale. Come on, admit it. Lol
  13. I'm twelve days post-op and down 10 pounds since surgery. I have had it very easy. My surgery went smoothly. My recovery has been quick and amazing. No nausea. Little pain. Day 8 I was back to work where I'm on my feet 8 hours a day. No food has made me ill. I'm not sure how much I'm able to consume because I haven't pushed it to see, but easily a cup without any hiccups or weird body signals to stop. So, yes, I've been very fortunate. The challenge for me will be to make the right food choices in the right amounts. I had a half of a cookie last night, chewed very well, just to see if the sweetness was going to be too much for me. Nope. Sigh. I had a small taste of pumpkin cheese cake the other day. Nothing. Geez. My tummy is just all too happy to accommodate whatever I do so I don't have the fear factor of getting sick to help me slam on the brakes. So, I will continue to document my food and water intake. And Monday will be two weeks post op and I'm going back to the gym. People say the sleeve isn't a cure; it's a tool! And now I understand what they mean. Best of luck to everyone!

    Discipline

I'm significantly below my 800 calorie limit, and my protein intake is between 70 -90 on a daily basis. My fluid intake is 64 + So I'm on my plan. My dr hasn't told me not to eat anything specific. Protein first. I'm 5'10 and have gone from 255 hw, 242sw and 231 today. I'm completely comfortable with my process and my progress.
  15. And 635 calories. Soy sauce on cottage cheese hit the spot!
  16. I had my sleeve surgery 8 days ago, and honestly I don't even like to talk about it in here because I feel so guilty that it went so perfectly. Other people struggle with a great number of things-- pain, nausea, trouble sipping, trouble hydrating, trouble tolerating Protein etc. I've had no problems. NONE. My best friend had sleeve surgery a few months ago and had a great number of challenges AND ended up having to have hemorrhoid surgery. She's very happy my surgery went so well, but she's like, "you ate two scrambled eggs last night!?!!" She wasn't able to eat mushies for several weeks! So the reason I decided to share my story was to let those who are pre-op know things can go very well. I don't know anything that I specifically did that helped me except for one thing. Two hours after my surgery ended I was walking the halls of the hospital with my little iv pole. Then I would go back to bed, sleep and when I woke a few hours later I'd get up and walk again. I know it helped relieve the gas pressure beneath my sternum. I was released at 11 am. ( my surgery was at 3 pm the previous day) 17 hours after my surgery was completed. The next day I was with my partner at the grocery store for an hour and a half. (We work there so there was chatting going on). I think my energy level is good because I've kept myself moving some every day. By day four I was cleaning and rearranging my kitchen cupboards ( not the low ones because my incisions were tender and bending was uncomfortable). So my advise: before surgery get moving. If you aren't very active start walking some. And after surgery, walk! Get up every few hours and walk a lap around the nurses' station. And sip. I set a timer on my phone for 15 min. And every time it went off I sipped. So, I don't know why but I was one of the lucky ones. I hope each of you has the experience I had. If you're in the Dallas Tx area I know of a great surgeon!

Please Let The Hair Loss Stop!

Yes. Make the jello as directed, but instead of putting it in the fridge to set drink it!
  19. I'm on a full liquid diet and wonder how many calories I should be limited to. I'm meeting 60g protein and will meet 64 ounces of water. But I don't want to consume too many calories.
  20. I'm two days out from surgery and getting excited. I love my job, but my mind is not in the game right now. So, I'm keeping my mind busy by thinking about what I look forward to as I lose weight. 1. Not turning sideways in close quarters to avoid hip-checking someone. 2. Flying without thinking people are thinking "I hope she doesn't sit by me." 3. Weighing less than I have in 25 years. 4. Developing a clothing style based on my personal taste and not just what I can find in a 3x 5. Wearing clothes that show my upper arms without being grossed out by myself. 6. Going to my family reunion next June and seeing the faces of people who haven't seen me since last year. 7. Going to high school reunion. So, what do you look forward to?
