I started my pre op liquid diet today , surgery is November 12 . I can only have 3 protein shakes and as much water as I would like.

Not hungry at all but the taste of these shakes are killing me!!!! I have the whey protein from Walmart in the cookies and cream flavor and I am using Vanilla Soy milk!!! So far today I can only stomach 2 shakes which equals out to 60 grams of protein.. Please help any suggestions are welcomed!!!!

  • Hi Jersey Girl, hope it's going well and that you're finding some shake variety. Pre-op is hard, particularly with the butterflies fluttering prior to the big day. Just know you're not alone. Will

Hang in there. Pre op is a bugger! LOL I have to go three weeks, two protein shakes, I can blend them with frozen fruit, if I like (I like) and one lean and green meal a day. I keep reminding myself w

Premier Protein and EAS carb control - both in chocolate flavore are the only 2 I still drink.

You might watch my video review of both to decide if you'd like to give them a try. I get EAS at Wal-Mart 4/$5 and Premier at Sam's Club 12/$19

Atkins advantage shakes are amazing!!! They have mocha latte, Carmel coffee and lots of other flavors . I still drink them and I'm 5 mos out!!!

I finally found one I kind of look forward to. Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein in Chocolate but I make it with coffee instead of water and put it in the blender with ice. Im really starting to like this!

Well Happy Birthday!! I am hanging in there I finally found a mix I can tolerate I mix the protein with water and frozen fruit...At least u can have some type of meal I cant have any solids!! :(

I'm glad that you found something you can live with. Bummer that you can't have any solids, at all. That one lean and green meal makes this pre op diet easier. It's so weird how different surgeons have their patients prepare.

I am doing much better just anticipating tuesday!!! I was just told that my vitamin D is low so I have to start supplements!!! Cant wait !! Thanks For the thoughts will keep everyone posted!!

Like you, I am not allowed any solids. My doctor said I could use light almond milk ( less than 1 carb per serving and 30 calories per serving) instead of water. It helps......I had to hold steady with my weight until I got insurance approval but now, of course, they want me losing. Started at 237 now at 229. I figure by surgery day I will be down to 220 maybe.....I have worried I won't lose enough to " make my surgeon happy" but I am doing my best :)
