Hey everybody! Finally went to my initial appt with the surgeon and went pretty well but he mentioned the sleeve as an alternative but at the end the descion its mines all my research for over a year has been rny and the forum and he throws that curveball at me and now im like really!? I tought he would recommend but he said its personal and that my bmi (45) is high but kinda on the lower side for what he is used to treat he said he wont reccomend the sleeve unless he thinks it will work without being so drastic help!! So torn starting educate myself to a second option any researchers?? About both or sites that i can check? I was so sure now have to see...

I would stick to RNY, there is more research, and a longer history of long term success.

Bypass. It would suck to have two surgeries and I've seen too many people not be successful with the sleeve.

Plus, I heard that acid reflux is horrible.

My surgeon said If you have Gerd or Acid Reflux that the Vertical Sleeve Revision is not an option to choose. I agree the research on RNY has far out weighed that of the Sleeve Surgery, and the results of weight loss are greater with this surgery then the other two.

Hi, I had GERD so bad my surgeon said no way he'd do the sleeve on me. I'm now in my 5th week post-op with RNY and my GERD is gone, and I'm down 45 pounds. It's tough the first couple weeks but it does get better!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
