Today I hit a milestone. As some of you know, my mom is on a kidney transplant list, has been for over 2 years. She is an extremely tough match and no one in the family matches, but I am, by far, th

What is a ketosis plan? Can you explain it? I used to do Atkins (lost 80 pounds with it! :D Then got pregnant and gained it all back and then some. :(

Anyway' date=' it was my understanding that any time you're burning fat for fuel you're automatically in ketosis. I've been peeing on my old ketostix during my stall to make me feel better...

Yaaaay for the cruise! It will be my first one. Have you been on them before?[/quote']

Well my doc only allows lean Protein for the 75% of weight loss, then I will get vegetables back and at maintenance I will get some fruits back. No bread, Pasta or simple carbs. I understand ketosis is when we burn fat, but more so when there are no carbs to burn.....hard on The kidneys....thats what I meant

Monken, they told me I could try that too, but I was too afraid.....how is it going down? Better then dumpy lortab I bet? Let me know how it goes, I might get brave

How interesting. Thanks for sharing!

I think I shall become known as "the Queen of the Plateaus." Good grief. Two weeks into this and already losing weight in fits and starts. I don't care, however. What I notice is the change in my face already. And my daughter said my butt looks smaller. LOLOLOL!

(I'm adding new pictures to my album weekly.)

I threw up for the first time last night. I felt a piece of chicken get stuck in my chest (OUCH!!) and took a **tiny** sip of Water to try to get it unstuck and I knew immediately it was going to come back up, and it did along with the rest of my meal. I'm glad the first one is over, I've been so nervous to puke since surgery.

Chew chew chew chew......... :-)

So I am 8 days post op and up until yesterday I was able to handle the protein shakes. Every time I take a drink there is this strange gurgling sound in my pouch that travels up my chest and I feel like its going to come back up on me. I can not take more than 3 drinks. Anyone know of any alternatives or ways to get my protein in. I am supposed to get in 80 grams a day.

I have been mixing the powders into other stuff, like strawberry powder into strawberry yogurt. Have you tried the Unjury chicken broth?

At my 2 week check up. Waiting for the doctor. Hopefully I lost a good amount. Cross your fingers.

Have any of you tried this? Best pureed thing I've had so far. Delicious, full of veggies, and I can put it in my purse and eat it a little at a time when I'm out running errands. (Otherwise I was getting off schedule)

Good luck, you will do GREAT......my post OP was 16 lbs

Suggestion Try to only weigh once a week so you don't get weirded out.

Cecelia your MD allows you to have fruit and veggies? Lucky you my MD only allows proteins until we are 75%

Weight loss before we can add our veggies one at a time...but I can say I have had unsweetened applesauce because I can't get these protein shakes down. I did find great protein bars 20 grams a bar very low sugar and the get mushy when I Chew them up..

Ok I'm finally home again out of hospital I'm just so tired all these meds So I got to advance to soft foods and its going ok hopefully everything is going to be good know I had very bad stomach pain and went back to hospital to find out I had fluid and bleeding but couldn't see where the bleeding was coming from so second test didnt show any active bleeding but my blood count was really drooping so they had to give me 5 pints of blood

The only way I can get my protein in is to drink "New Whey" protection n shots' date=' they have 42 g protein and are only 3.8oz, lactose free, gluten free, caffeine free, sugar and fat free, I sip it throughout the day so that I can absorb it all. They are very nasty, but its the only way I have been able to get it in, my surgeon approved them, but ask yours because all our surgeons seem to disagree on diet. I Have only tried watermelon and so maybe on of the other ones tastes better.

I am so jealous he is letting you have applesauce. It sounds so soothing right now. How are you doing?

I am so glad you are home. Please take care of yourself. Remember t do some walking if possible or some in bed leg exercises, I know you are off your blood clot meds, so we want to make sure y don't get one. Still praying for us.

Take care and call if y get lonely

Kat77 I had some applesauce two tablespoons on my own I didn't ask MD it felt good and satisfied me. I manage to get my protein in with eggs, yogurt cheese, chicken, protein bars that are 20mg. Waiting on the only protein shake I can get down coffee flavor

Nutriststem protein shake a sounds weird but Its a taste thing with me. I will eat proteins before I drink them.

FYI You can also make pudding with your protein powder of it makes more tolerable lots of recipes on internet. Some protein powders come with recipes :-)
