March Surgery Dates

I've seen topics where members having surgery in the same month have kinda banded together to offer support and encouragement to one another. I think this is a wonderful idea, and I'd like to see if there's anyone having surgery in March that would like to support one another.

I have a tentative date for the second or third week in March. I have UHC through Georgia Pacific and they use BRS for approvals. I don't expect any delays, nor does my surgeon's office, so she saved me a spot, so to speak, lol.

Tonight I have my psyc eval, and Monday is my information class, I have two more visits, 2/5 and 3/5 of my six month supervised diet, and on March 5th when I leave my PCP's office, I'll take my worksheet to the surgeon and we'll submit to insurance. That's where I'm at!

I'd love to talk with others that are looking at the same time frame as me!! :D

Hey' date=' I and we understand. My ulcers were found (10) and I was treated and another EGD was done to verify they were gone 1-2 wks earlier. It's a sign that we shouldn't be taking certain things into our bodies ( like for me it's ibuprofen, naproxen, certain foods), so we need to be more careful.

They tested mine for H Pylori bacteria and it was negative. Since I don't use NSAIDS, drink or smoke they said it is most likely caused by stress. Not surprising since I worry about everything! Now I'm worried about having issues in the future, post-op. I wish it would have been caused by something I could stop. Unfortunately I don't know how to convince myself not to worry all the time! He said I don't need a follow up EGD before surgery, I suppose since there aren't that many and he said they were minor. They are in my duodenum so a little concerned since that portion is bypassed, I assume once I have the surgery there is no way to get meds in that area if they should reoccur.

I didn't have to get one done either :) I also don't have to do a sleep study.

You are so lucky that you did not have a sleep study! I had to have two and they suck!

I was told the pain we would have would remind us, as would other new reactions to bad foods or fast eating, therefore assisting us in retraining our way of doing things

That is what I thought but was still worried as I cannot seem to make myself sip.

What have people been told about carbonation? I have read on here that it expanding your pouch is a myth and I have read its not. I even read of someone that was given ginger ale in the hospital! My Dad had the surgery 7 years ago and drinks diet Pepsi like it is goin out of style. He also chews gum like crazy, but has maintained his weight...I am a carbonation junkie so am curious...

12 more days until surgery(3/5) and I'm on my 3rd day of Optfast shakes, they have become tolerable, I have no choice anyways and I'm drinking plenty of water(ocean spray). I have lost a total of 7lbs. I know it's only water weight but I'll take anything!

Did my pre-op blood work and ekg yesterday, hoping everything comes out ok, especially thyroid levels.

Getting a little more nervous as the days pass by and surgery gets closer.

I just know that they wanted us to cut sodas anyway..... But was told that gum could block if swallowed, carbonation not good--need healthier non caloric beverages and adds air like gulping would..... Talk to ur dr and nut

You're right they do suck! I don't know how they can actually call them a "sleep study" with all of that stuff hooked up to you there is no way you can get a good nights sleep!

Hey surgery buddy! I'm March 5th as well. Started liquid diet Tuesday and trying so hard to get to "tolerable" on the shakes. Have you modified them at all to make it easier to drink?

Does anyone know if we can keep the drinks in the fridge?

My shakes are pre-made, I tolerate them better when right out the freezer. Unfortunately it's only shakes, water and sf jello for me for two weeks. I'm still hungry and have been tempted to cheat, it's very hard.
