Bowel prep is killing me!

Ok I know it's TMI but I had to drink 10oz of magnesium citrate at noon today and I'm still in bathroom. How do you keep your poor too shoe from getting raw?!?!? I am hurting!

  • Ugh mine tasted like orange ass water. It was the most disgusting thing in the world and I only drank 1/2 of it. Surgeon was ok with that.

I feel your pain! I had mine at 1pm and still going!

Thank The Lord I don't have to do a owl prep!!!!

HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 251, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 251

Bowel prep, not owl prep :D

I am awaiting a surgery date so I am ignorant on many aspects of my RNY now. Why the bowel prep and when? Pre-surgery I'm guessing? What other pre stuff is there?

Bowel prep is drinking magnesium citrate (liquid laxative) to empty out your system the day befor surgery.

Good luck!! I will he thinking of you today!!

Best way to keep from getting a sore tush is warm water. Pretty much the same way we did it after childbirth but geared towards the other area; before you go put warm water in a squeeze bottle (it escapes me what they're called) and then after you go squirt the warm water on your tushi instead of using harsh toilet paper over and over. Then just pat dry with the TP.

Wish I had thought of that yesterday. I'm on way to hospital and still going. We will probably have to stop and I HATE going in public restroom but it's that or an accident.

Aw, I'm sorry. That stuff really is awful. Soon though you won't feel a thing, you'll be out like a light for a couple hours and when you wake up it will be a whole new focus. :)

that just made my night!!

I was just doing a search on this here because I have to do it too soon

So what does it taste like please (the MC I am referring to obviously for the comedians :D )

Magnesium citrate comes in many different flavors. Walgreens has a selection. Lemon is the worse by far. Drinking it cold is easiest.

Ugh that was the worst! I could barely finish the bottle. I didn't take it until 7:00 the night before and didn't go a whole lot after I did take it.

I had a grape flavor magnesium citrate. It was a sweet nasty drink - like a fizzy sweet tart drink.
